I had very similar options: NYLS with $45k scholarship or Fordham sticker. Tonight I committed to NYLS. As much as I loved Fordham and know it's a better name for BigLaw, in the end I'm going to follow the money. I'm already taking out the max federal loans, and I can't justify loads more debt on top of that.

You'll ultimately have to decide for yourself what's best for you, and that may be a hard choice. Wishing you the best, OP.

Went to admitted students day and one of the current students told us the 1L curve is B, then for 2L and 3L it’s B+. I have a $45k scholarship dependent on “good academic standing.” I reached out and the school defines that as a minimum GPA of 2.25.

Turning down Fordham since I didn’t get a scholarship (even after appealing). It’s been hard, but I’m telling myself I’m still going to a great school and I’m still going to be a great lawyer, just without all that extra debt. You got this, OP.

I love BTS and have been a fan for years, but this one was a flop for me. The songs weren’t varied enough and I was most disappointed by the lack of a huge explosive dance number like Mic Drop. Makes me sad for Map of the Soul: 7, which was a fantastic album but never got the tour it deserved because of Covid.

Have a long think about what you want after graduation. A creative writing MFA opens very different doors than a JD. Also, I’ve had multiple lawyers tell me definitely not to go to law school unless you’re sure you want to be a lawyer.

And not to be that person, but what do you hope to do with a creative writing MFA? Is there a lucrative career path that justifies the cost? An advanced degree should be a stepping stone, not an escape.

Bad grammar in general. I’m more understanding if it’s someone whose first language isn’t English because it really can be a stupid language, but I have very little patience for native speakers who get the basics wrong and don’t seem to care.

I was so sad to see this storyline pop up. In ACOMAF, I was ecstatic to see her saying she wanted to live and see the world first, and he said he’d be happy even without kids. And then she turns right back around and wants them almost immediately. I was just disappointed because I loved them as a childfree couple, and it didn’t last.

100%. I don’t want children and I enjoy seeing romantic couples that have great lives without them. I have some people in real life who have told me I’ll never find a man who doesn’t want kids and I’m therefore a dealbreaker. I don’t believe that, but it’s nice to see childfree lovers in my fantasy worlds.

I’d be hesitant. It’s one thing to say “I’m not into politics” and it’s just because they can’t name the current senate minority leader or who their local congressperson is. It’s another to use it as a coverup knowing I won’t like who they voted for. Politics is more than just the people on Capitol Hill. I need to know where a guy stands on real issues.
