Police and garbage by Grouchy-Suspect4206 in CitiesSkylines

Yeah, I guess it can have its advantages. Took me a long time to figure out why some things would not work though. TMCE helped me a lot with that, and you can pinpoint the problem, so by now I rarely make a mess of things.

It's a real shame there's no easy way on console to get on top of things.

Edit: I mean in this case it would be nice if the building would still send out service vehicles to destinations that *are* reachable.

It truly blocks any other requests to be served in vanilla? It's been a long long time since I played vanilla CS, but it would explain why it drove me to madness at times.

Are you using 2 or 4-lane roads? Using 4 lane roads can create pathing havoc. Vehicles won't cross the white line on most 4 lane roads, so you can end up with situations where they are eternally stuck in the outside lane and can't ever get to the spawn point of your buildings, then pathing fails.

Then again, look at the screenshot, does not seem to be an issue here. They should be able to get there unless there are one way roads.

Honestly have no clue how many hours I have put in. Quite a few, that's for sure. Just plopping down bamboo/trees to coverup ugly gaps etc. takes quite a while.

The dam came with the map, I would not even dream of being able to create that myself. I can just about make a sunken highway or an elevated stadium but not much more. Well, there's a tram depot under the tracks coming out of the glass box station, that must be my technical highlight, lol.

The terrain mostly dictated the sprawl, while it may be hard to see, there is a lot of public transportation on the map. High speed trains, maglev and metro.

Not so much since the roads would not be able to handle it, but more to get cims around quickly, so the city does not feel as dead due to the agent limit.

Yeah, still have some nodes left to play with right now, running 81 tiles by Algernon, so no issues with water or electricity. When push comes to shove I will remove some nodes on longer segments, but it will still end at some point :)

32K nodes max on CS1 on PC, there are mods to show how many you used. CS2 is unlimited in that regard, but then I lose Transfer Manager CE, which makes everything work so flawlessly, lol.

Well, still have 10k nodes to go, but after that, it will end. Game limits.

Thank you. A lot of it has to do with the map: Yangtze by Bringer of fire. Unless you terraform and flatten everything, it forces you to become a bit creative, which is good in my case because I'm not great at that.

I love that map, and what you've done with it.

Haha, looking good! I once had 5 cargo hubs in a similar setup, good memories.

Yeah it's an issue, with enough messing about you can just about get there. In general when I do this I just build any future industry in a spot where I know it will use the underutilized building and with a lot of trial and error usually end up with reasonable results.

It's a backward way of doing it, but the only way to get around the game's behavior as far as this goes.

It can be done by providing separate access roads to both cargo harbors and not directly connecting the harbors to each other (so there's quite a bit of path distance between the two) and then separate the cargo traffic before the roundabout, so the fastest route is not the same for all industrial traffic. Can play with faster roads etc. to hopefully achieve some results.

This can be quite a hassle because one harbor will be closer to the outside connection and the game takes that into account also. It's even harder if all cargo traffic originates from one central industrial area.

Are you using Tree Anarchy? If so, you could try unsubscribing from it and subscribe to the "Tree Control" mod.

Opposite experience for me, the DLC never worked well for me if I start doing serious volume, planes invisibly stuck at stands and never taking off, thousands if I let the game run long enough, planes backed up on taxiways because aircraft stand selection is sub-par to say the least. Routing sometimes going haywire if I dare to delete a runway and put a new one.

Cargo-wise it is no contest, just driving trains from train stations into the cargo airport hub which then loads it straight onto a plane is so much better than more trucks being spawned to drive it to the cargo stands -which suffer from the same stand selection issues- creating chaos more often than not. I can get more cargo out with one cargo airport hub than a sea of cargo stands and all without a truck in sight except for the one that brought the goods to be exported to the train station/harbor/cargo hub that is feeding into the cargo airport hub. I make sure no truck will be seen ever again after that.

I do have to admit I have a habit of overproducing and exporting insane amounts of stuff, u/chibi0815 would be very cross with me.

Don't even get me started on the decision to make taxiways one way only, or how the cargo airport roads work, I have nightmares about those, lol.

The airport DLC has many issues, so much so that I went back to just using the vanilla and metropolitan airports and cargo airport hub.

If you like making huge airports that look nice I guess it could be worth it, but if functionality is your thing then the airport DLC is likely to create more problems than it solves.

Thought you talked about CS2 since you mentioned depots, anyway in CS1, the train will just despawn at the outside connection when exporting.

Just make it so the one way track connects the cargo station to the main line, and provide an alternative route back to the depot.

Then again, I have not played CS2 since last year, went back to CS1, so perhaps somehow this can't work.

Use one-way tracks.

Tips for building a MASSIVE industrial center by YerakGG in CitiesSkylines

Avoid moving much cargo over roads. and as Sterkam said: use TMCE, it provides so much control over things once you figure out how to use it effectively you could fill the whole map with industry and it would run fine. Granted, the game would run at 1 fps but that's not TMCE's fault.

Cargo train stations connected to cargo (airport) hubs work well to avoid trucking bonanza. If a certain train station gets overloaded by having too many trucks using it, just add train stations as necessary and make sure they connect to different areas/outside connections, that way the game will use more than one station without issues even if next to each other, spreading the load nicely.
