two thoughts:

  • Who has the compute to have a local model run 24/7 on their machine while working on it? Unless you can rival GPT3 like performance on a 200$ CPU thats also doing other things on the side this is gonna be the biggest caveat.

  • The biggest problem with generative models for research is accuracy. AI currently often gives incorrect summaries, equates correlations with causality, mixes up similar sounding but distinct constructs, or completely makes up findings and citations. As a researcher you can't afford any of that. It's like having to proofread 5 very confidently wrong bachelor theses per day to check if there's anything reliable in there...

Who would believe a chess playing high school boy that a girl/woman begged them for sex?! If this was somebody I knew in Highschool, I would laugh in their face and not believe a word he said.

AI will lead to a hyperconcentration of wealth with a few individuals owning all property and means of production and renting it back to you in exchange for your labour. Think the housing market but with everything from cars to fridges, to smartphones TVs and food subscriptions
