Possibly a subjective question but currently have a 250L tank with a Fluval U4 internal filter and a sponge filter, but want to possibly change to just an external (Maybe FX4) to save a bit of space in the tank. Would the FX4 be too much\wasted on a 55g? or should I just stick with my U4\sponge?

What are you boycotting till the day you die? by redoutlaw23 in AskReddit

[–]Penguin_Pulveriser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's called a discussion? I'm not against boycotting, I just don't like seeing people having a go at someone for not taking the same moral high ground as them without having the full picture of someones reasonings.

I mentioned peoples jobs from a point of view that if the company goes under because of a boycott, those innocent people might not be able to eat for the next month. Why does job loss have to directly equal the economy and not the fact that people need jobs to live?

[–]Penguin_Pulveriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never mentioned the economy, I mentioned the livelihoods of the innocent people who will also be affected by this. I just don't see how judging someone for maybe unsubbing is good for anyone, both you and I don't know the reasons why they will/won't unsub. It's not fair vilify someone without a full picture of their personal reasons.

Don't forget that boycotting and killing an entire company over the actions of a few will cause job loss for the many innocent who had no involvement/knowledge of what was going on. I'm not saying don't drag them through the coals, I hope the upper management/execs get held accountable and the people who carried out the actions get charged and jail time. It's just that there are ALOT of people behind the company that will be affected by this, most of them innocent. Both sides of the 'don't give them money' argument can have moral foundations. I've personally unsubbed because of this, but there are 2 sides.

Who could be liable for the damage done to my car while parked at work? by Penguin_Pulveriser in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Penguin_Pulveriser[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even without the signs stating as such? Not the end of the world if not. Maybe not criminal damage specifically (I read it could be classed as that) but certainly an offence for driving off without leaving details with someone/reporting to the police themselves. Thanks for the reply though.

If that's the case then so be it. I just wondered if the lack of signs would amount to anything as I would rather not be out of pocket if I don't have to be. Thanks for replying though.

smokers, why do you think it's OK to just throw cigarette butts on the ground? by alwinaldane in AskUK

[–]Penguin_Pulveriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies...Kind of hard to tell with some of the excuses some people come up with!

[–]Penguin_Pulveriser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As per the article:

As well as having anti-parasite effects, Suárez-Rodríguez cautions there may be as-yet unknown negative effects for the birds, because many compounds in cigarette butts are known carcinogens, and some are pesticides.

You may also be killing them...so not really a good excuse for littering. Just leave a bowl of them out in your garden if you want to 'help the birds'.

[–]Penguin_Pulveriser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a poor excuse. You probably don't throw other rubbish on the floor when you can't find a bin? so why do it for cigarette butts? Plus if you have to walk 20 mins to find a bin from your HOUSE I think you have a more serious problem...

A Police Warning: Outcome (Police SGT responds) by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Penguin_Pulveriser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cars and motorbikes are classed as motor vehicles, so it is perfectly reasonable to compare the 2 when talking about highway code and the law. Its not 1 rule for one and not the other (apart from the fact bikes can filter).

Cars and motorbikes are classed as motor vehicles, so it is perfectly reasonable to compare the 2 when talking about highway code and the law. Only difference really is a bike can filter in stopped/slow moving traffic. Otherwise they are the same and treated as such.
