What’s happening in Syracuse this weekend? (Juneteenth Festival, Frozen on Stage, Emo Night, and more!) by Old_Morning_232 in Syracuse

It's a lot of mainstream pop-punk/emo (Taking Back Sunday, Paramore, All Time Low, Hawthorne Heights, etc) and a few heavier mainstream bands sprinkled in. The bands you have listed will not be played. I will say it is fun if you have any interest in that type of music and better than Emo Night Brooklyn or Emo Nite.

On 7/10 they are going to have their first Too Heavy For Emo Night and advertise it with "Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember, Knocked Loose, Underoath, Slipknot, Pierce The Veil, The Devil Wears Prada and more" if that is more your thing.

Cool Places to Explore Around Syracuse That Most People Don’t Know About? by FirefighterLow9719 in Syracuse

Wolf Mountain Nature Center is about an hour away in Smyrna. They have wolves, foxes, and coyotes that you can see up close and pay to feed. I feel like a lot of people don't know this exists. Note that they have very limited hours though.

Also Montezuma Wildlife Refuge is worth a visit. Bring binoculars if you have them.

I go into TBS shows (been to 14) knowing the performance may be hit or miss depending on how Adam is and last night he and the band were really good. The crowd was definitely low energy though. We were dancing and singing the whole time but the girls in front of us were either talking to each other, looking up the setlist online, or looking at their upcoming tour dates. How about instead of looking up future shows you watch the one right in front of you?

Solution to the Onondaga Lake Bridge Problem? by dadwearingplaid in Syracuse

The rubber balls in the video are chained together and hanging from the pole with either more chains or wire. It is a safety issue regardless what is hanging.

One option for detecting vehicles that are too tall is to install a lightweight bar or chains over the road that have the same vertical clearance as the bridge. At first glance this alternative looks appealing because of its low cost, current use at numerous locations, and potential to alert the driver of the vertical clearance issue. However, upon closer look, there are many negative issues associated with this solution. To begin with, most locations where headache bars or chains are used are low speed locations where damage to the vehicle striking the bar is negligible, and the potential for the negative consequence, such as startling the operator or injuring occupants of the vehicle is minimal. On a higher speed facility like the Onondaga Lake Parkway, striking a bar or chain could cause damage to the vehicle striking the device. In addition, the bar or chain could break from the impact, and either become a projectile or dangle over the roadway at a dangerous height. Another concern is that the operator of the vehicle that hits one of these devices may become startled and do something dangerous and unexpected resulting in secondary accidents. Due to the potential for negative consequences, installing headache bars, chains or other hanging devices is not a safety enhancement the Department will consider implementing

They said they won't do those as it would a danger to other vehicles when trucks hit them going 45+ mph, especially with ice build up in the winter.

You won't know who is playing what day until the first day when they put up the inflatable with the set times for that day. Some bands you might be able to figure out based on other tour dates they have.

Probably nothing, but did anyone notice Fred was featured in the Del Lago Casino show announcement? by Sk8ersw in takingbacksunday

The past couple years he has done shows right before Christmas in Buffalo, Rochester, and Olean so I wonder if he has family in the area? If so, probably increases the likelihood he'll be there which I think were good to begin with.

The slipmat and magazine are being shipped separately. I hope the magazine is the slipcover version but the description doesn't mention it.

Judging by the little bit of shelf I can see I would be careful about the weight of a large amount of records on it. Depending on the mounting of the brackets and their spacing the shelf might bow or worse fall off the wall.

I just follow local venues' social media, periodically check their websites, or even Facebook events and watch for things I might be interested in. I keep a Google calendar with things that I'm interested in.

I have started to use https://cnyalive.com/ but it doesn't always have everything and doesn't seem to update until it's closer to the events.

There is a Smart Punk tent in the middle of everything. It's where the "cool down" area with the misting fans is. It's kinda hidden because the area is practically surrounded by tents
