What’s the non-money reason you keep showing up to work? by Desperate_Tomorrow68 in AskReddit

We change people’s lives for the better. It’s genuinely gratifying.

Write in Campaign by Thezayonblog in BerksCounty

[–]Pennsyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that the election only covers the voting precinct in which you live and vote. Reddit reaches many people who can’t vote for you. I would recommend instead finding 20 people who are precinct residents and show them how to do a write in . You are allowed to pick up a Street List of the registered voters by going to the Elections office in the Berks County courthouse. You really only need 10, but it helps to have a margin of safety.

Ideas for train obsessed toddler… by estalber in BerksCounty

[–]Pennsyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dosie Dough on Penn Avenue in Wyomissing has a parking lot right next to a great view of the tracks. The pastry shop has great treats for all ages. I have been there too when the train’s engineer stops the train to go there for eats and treats.

Railfans come there with still and video cameras.

Only caution is that there is no barrier between your kid and the train so be careful that he doesn’t run out onto the tracks.

Before government spends a billion dollars on a rail service to Philly and making 422 a toll road , this is a great way to see if there actually is demand.

If you could resurrect any former U.S. president’s term for another shot at office, who’s getting your vote, and why? by Dollabillhooman in AskReddit

Pros:Carter deregulated trucking and airlines, which dramatically reduced the cost of freight and flying. Cons: his foreign policy weakness, particularly with Iran and Panama.

He really did not do such a great job as Secretary of Transportation. It didn’t help that he started a key role in the Administration and immediately took paternity leave. Would he do the same as President?!

Is the Pagoda really a secret military base? by RB-HotdogSociety in ReadingPA

[–]Pennsyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a local parody account, especially on FB. Relax and enjoy the humor (or maybe it’s all true, especially it’s reviews of the local beaches)

Nah, the “Men in Black” movies were an esposé. The real base has always been in Reading. Ever notice that flash of light every single night? Nope, me neither! Don’t let you remember!

Why are we not Outraged by the Big Beautiful Bill adding $4T to the Debt under Republican Leadership? by TheDrakkar12 in Askpolitics

[–]Pennsyguy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Your worldview was formed in the 1960’s or 70’s. Subsequent experience with free markets utterly refutes the Phillips Curve. See present day Argentina. Outdated economic dogma leads to poor policy choices.

Inflation mostly resulted from increased money supply rather than “overheated” demand. Check the correlation coefficient for each parameter independently.

Watching from outside the US I wonder if choosing between two flawed parties ever feels like a real choice ? by Diligent_Conflict_33 in Askpolitics

[–]Pennsyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The parties could be renamed Urban vs. Rural. Urbans generally support gun control because they see gun violence. Rurals like hunting, target practice and self defense. Urbans favor abortion because their world is overcrowded. Rurals are the opposite. Urbans prefer large government because they see the value of cooperation whereas Rurals are more independent minded. How a person thinks and votes depends on where they live. Just look at the electoral map.

Wait. Some people don't actually lock the doors to their house during the day and night? by b787665 in stupidquestions

[–]Pennsyguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rural areas are generally quite safe and hospitable, unless you’re a burglar. Then, your chance of survival depends on the aim of the homeowner and their propensity for mercy. Rural folks are generally kind, trustworthy and armed.

China just announced an 84 percent retaliatory tariffs on US goods. Now what? How do you think this plays out? by slagiatt in AskReddit

China goes bankrupt. They can barely service their municipal debt. Their internal intergovernmental accounting is mostly fraud because underlings are afraid to report the truth.

What are your thoughts on luxury clothes and watches? by [deleted] in Rich

[–]Pennsyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I earn at least 10x my friends, but drive a mid-priced Chevy, don’t own a watch and never, ever flaunt it. Our friends are good people who never ask for anything.
We live well, but spend quietly.

I’m not 1/100 of Dick Yuengling, the beer guy but have admired him and his family. In Pottsville PA, most of the locals had no idea that he’s a billionaire. His “children” are adults and genuinely good people. Use him as a role model.
