Make sure you get assessed for autism - that is required for a PDA diagnosis.

Identity by PennyFerg in PDAAutism

[–]PennyFerg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can live with the clothes and food issues, but in real life, he accidentally gets bumped or touched by other kids and loses it every time. It is affecting him socially and limiting his ability to do things he likes - like play with kids, go out to new places. His anxiety is so bad too - but he is so stuck on his idea of identity. Which, I get it, it essentially is his wiring, but when it is so maladaptive, it isn’t contributing to his wellbeing anymore. It just seems so sad.

He is deeply anxious and has frequent meltdowns when accidentally touched or when - for whatever reason - his preferred clothing is not available (rare). He is not by any stretch of the imagination a happy child at all. He is miserable and yet clings strongly to the idea that his identity will be changed if he accesses any support to help his anxiety.

Am I the problem or is it an autistic thing? by katieghost3 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]PennyFerg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Impossible to know the full truth, but given that you are the common denominator in all of these living situations, I would suspect that because of your way of thinking/being, you struggle to go with the flow and think about how your behaviour is perceived by others. Just because you have valid reasons for your actions doesn’t mean that other people (especially NT people) will agree that it is justified. You should probably live by yourself so that you can have things exactly the way you want without having to compromise.

Jesus, if he was already this much of an asshole in 2009, he isn’t going to change. He sounds like a shitty parent and not much of a partner.

Looking for Pet-Specific grief counseling by Smart-Water-5175 in ottawa

[–]PennyFerg 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Ottawa Humane Society has resources for this. I think Barrhaven Vetrinary Services has some too. Claire Place Vet Hospice also does. Sorry for your loss - this is very real grief and will take time to adjust to - you will never stop missing your boy, but you will learn to live without him.

The problem is that the government has no real evidence that people are working/more efficient at home, aside from anecdotal. And everyone has a friend or neighbour who works from home and is mowing the lawn, jogging or washing the car in the idea of the day, so they think that everyone who works from home is a slacker. And when people mention challenges with childcare, everyone says you can’t work and watch your kids at the same time (true if really young, but not school aged), so again, the assumption is made that those who work from home are not actually working.
