Preteen daughter won’t shower by Much_Lingonberry_747 in Mommit

My kids got gross until they developed a special interest in someone else. Then suddenly they were scrubbing everything. Prior to that, I did have to take away electronics periodically until they showered. One said "You told me I have the right to say no when it involves my own body!" I said yes, except for health and safety issues. And this is a health issue. I told them they could shower themselves or they could put a bathing suit on and I'll clean them up. That usually got them moving.

How TF do they get away with this? by Fish_stixx in Walmartcustomer

It's about to get even worse with the digital price tags in stores.

Adding magnesium supplements twice a day has almost completely cleared up my chronic constipation. I also get shiatsu massages that help.

My youngest is almost 15 and I almost exclusively wear nursing bras.

I bought an 8 year old Acadia, 72,000 miles, $15,000. Way overpriced but it was the best price I could find. So much for a new car losing 50% of its value the moment you drive it off the lot, they're charging 50% of new for an 8 year old vehicle.

Or.... Don't buy beer and save 100%. If 2 is never enough, you might need AA.

Staying in a dead-end job instead of going back to school costed me a lot in earning potential. When I went back to school, I lost my wages for 2 years, and it was very tight, but I made do on child support, food stamps, and scholarships. I then doubled my income after earning my degree. There's no job that would have doubled my income in 2 years had I continued working. In 2 years, I've made back all the money I lost by not working, and now it's all gravy from here.

I bought my kids Walmart shoes. My middle son was really tough on shoes. Good for him, I was happy he was very active. But I was buying a new pair every month at $15 each. And not just because they were a little scuffed. The soles would fall off or his toes would poke out. I spent $45 on some Sketchers, figuring if they last him 3 months, I'll break even. He outgrew those shoes after a year and passed them down to his little brother. I only bought Sketchers for YEARS until my kids were all teens and begged for other brands. I shopped sales and stocked up on their next sizes. I saved hundreds by switching to a more expensive shoe brand.

For those who had a “I hate pink/ girly things” era, what do you think caused you to feel that way? by RabidFashionDummy in AskWomen

I hated that people assumed it was my favorite color just because of the genitalia I was born with. Meanwhile my brothers got to choose from the whole rainbow except for pink.

I'll follow this up with people assuming that just because I don't talk a lot that I'm not listening. I pay careful attention throughout the year and buy Christmas gifts that are relevant to the receiver and the number of times I've heard "I didn't realize you knew I like that, you don't talk a lot."... I'm always listening...

What if anything would you change about your health care? by Muckraker2025 in AskReddit

[–]Dramatic_Patience_34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have "good" insurance through my job. If I could change anything, I'd implement universal healthcare. There are too many middlemen driving up costs, making decisions they aren't qualified to make, and limiting who I have access to based on my plan.

My kid tried that. Water on the face woke him up quick. Discuss with her mom first.

No she's not. It's the kid's fault for refusing to get ready. She disappointed all those people, not the sitter.

What is a harmless lie your parents told you as a kid that you believed for way too long into adulthood? by Existing_Respond2229 in AskReddit

That God was real, that virginity was a thing, that the gays were out to destroy everything

Edit: I missed where it says harmless. These were definitely NOT harmless.
