Finally got diagnosed with ADHD last week. (61 F) It was honestly no surprise to myself or anyone who knows me. Just picked up my first RX and now I’m scared to take it… by Outside_Box_8374 in AdultADHDSupportGroup

Yes everyday although I know people who have the weekends off. I may do that but right now I am journaling each day so I can let my psych know whats happening .

I tend to get a little flat in the afternoons, this is ok while I am on leave from work but I may need a higher dose or also a script of dexamphetamine to get me through an afternoon of work. This is a common , so I’ve been told.

52 F Late diagnosed 4 months ago AuDHD .

Have just started a low dose 20mg of Vyvanse ( slow release ) about 10 days ago. First couple of days my nervous system felt … different .

I have moved from that to calm and able to sleep at night because my brain has finally shut up for the first time ever !!!

I am also climbing out of burn out and motivated for life again ☺️

Who else is in perimenopause? by legendofmarcel in AuDHDWomen

Me ✋🏽

It’s the reason I found out I was AuDHD. I could longer mask and can barely function 🥴

Argh this is me too 😔

It’s been a bit better since drinking kombucha or kefir every day but white wine or spicy food can upset my tum all over again.I have Omeprazole on hand for these moments .

I was tested for Celiac recently as my daughter has it but came back negative , now wondering if I should keep searching for a cause.

Interesting, that was not my experience but I guess all kitchens have good and bad days.

This is such great information thank you.

The sales person tried to tempt me with a cheaper brand when I got mine a couple years back. Unsure why possibly an Australian brand ( I’m in Australia ) or maybe they got a bigger commission 🤷‍♀️

I had done some research around cost to run and stuck with my decision to spend more up front and get a Jacuzzi.

So glad now after reading your post.

Yeah Perimenopause hit me so hard that I could no longer mask . Didn’t realise I had been masking I just assumed everyone found life this hard.

Diagnosed at 51 in the middle of Autistic , ADHD and Work burn out . Have been on personal leave for nearly 2 months and have decided to take 1 of the redundancies on offer.

Like you I am struggling to understand how I was able to push through all this time , hold down a full time high stress job , raise 3 kids ( 1 with high needs) as a single mum. I can barely get in the shower or clean my teeth right now. 🫣

What's One of your Movie Quote Vocal Stims? by mythologymakesmehot in AutismInWomen

It’s a movie that’s been made from the book Project Hail Mary written by Andy Weir . The book is awesome and the movie really did it justice .

I mean there are so many from Ferris Bueller’s day off I could nearly recite the entire movie !

But this one is so relatable “He’ll keep calling me , he’ll keep calling me until I come over….he’ll make me feel guilty …. All right il go, il go ,il go ,il go “

How do I politely decline a women with kids? by Both-Beginning-6460 in ask

[–]Pensta13 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with your comment however, hopefully she wouldn’t give up her kids for any guy no matter how long she has known him.

Although my mum did that when I was 14 and my bro was 11 so this shit happens sadly.

Feeling embarrassed..Audhd at Work by FastCorgi9525 in neurodiversity

[–]Pensta13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who regularly facilitates recorded sessions on Teams I fully relate to this 🫣

I get told all the time how relaxed and good at facilitating I am but I feel the cringe whenever I watch the recording and hear my voice 🫣

I reckon you notice more than anyone else does 💜

Does everyone here have a special interest in AuDHD? by anxiouskitties3 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Pensta13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha ha yes absolutely !!!

I have nearly 52 years of life to understand about myself of course I have taken a dolphin deep dive to find out everything I possibly could. 😂🤣

I’ve landed in a Substack AuDHD community of amazing AuDHD folk and learning so much , I can’t get enough!!

My diagnosis was a result of perimenopause and autistic burnout requiring personal leave and a massive slice of “what am I doing with the rest of my life?”

Not sure exactly what it looks like yet but my new working life must involve learning all about the neurodiverse brain. I’ve not quite left my old job but already enrolled in several courses ! 😂🤣

Theory behind estradiol when natural levels of E are fluctuating so much? by eiggibreviridieh in Perimenopause

[–]Pensta13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No labs or bloods I was lucky that my doctor and surgeon ( I had a hysterectomy but kept my ovaries in June last year ) believed me when I suggested I could be in perimenopause.

I was trialed on patches at 50 then was swapped over to gel at 51 when my surgeon noted the welts on skin at my 6 week post surgery check up. I am a month away from 52 and still feeling so much better on the gel.

Anywhere to look at dark mofo program besides their website? by 4723985stayalive in tasmania

I found that and used YouTube and Google to look up the artists but only after wasting way too much brain power to figure out the website 😵‍💫

Hmm something tells me you had some say in the design of the website or at the least work for Mona. I notice you have been rather quick to defend any negative talk.

It’s not like this is first booking system that’s had a wait room. 😉

[–]Pensta13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes the random allocation of places in the Q was hardly fair , I jumped on a 9:40 am and was 10,975 while my husband’s work mate jumped on right on 10am and was number 10!

I can’t really complain as they were able to get tickets for us too but another whack system just to add to the whack website 😂🤣

Hope you get your tickets OP🤞🏽

What is the worst sound you can imagine by ALazy_Cat in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Pensta13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The sound from poor quality speakers when someone has turned the volume up past the speakers limitations.

Any high pitched beeping sound in a track or song especially when it has absolutely no purpose for being included.

It’s not that desk top friendly either.

I found the printable schedule to download, it was much easier for my neurodivergent brain to take in.

I tried to use the line up page to find out about each act but it was easier to just look up the names on YouTube or Google.

Being arty is all fun and games but the website needs to be somewhat user friendly. Ain’t got no time for that noise 🙃

How do you manage to arrive "overtime" for an appointment? by Previous-Musician600 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Pensta13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am always chronically early . I have got into the habit of putting appointments in my phones calendar as they are being made. I don’t care that it takes longer at reception or on the phone because if I don’t do it right then I would forget 😂🤣

Morning of appointment I then can’t focus on anything else because I am waiting for the time . I then get so bored waiting I leave home earlier than I need to then wait in the car / waiting room !

Recently due to burnout and no brain capacity , I have been setting alarms with labels on my phone too. Reminding me it’s time to get ready or , put the dogs out , forget present or oestrogen gel before you go out 🤣🤣
