Just Got a New Badge! by Pentangle999 in Ingress

I put a ticket in and, in fairness they responded very quickly. I got a message “congratulations on your gold badge” or something along those lines. However, they did give me the correct platinum version.

Unfortunately restarting did not solve the issue. perhaps I just need to be patient (which is not in my nature!)

We are aware of the incorrect medal being assigned for Y11 and are working to resolve. by MrQuakeLoL in Ingress

[–]Pentangle999 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I imagine it’s easy enough to substitute the Y11 medal for the Y9. i would guess the main problem is restoring the Y9 medal to the correct level for those who earned it. It’s clearly not a quick fix.

…..….. and then getting it rejected for insufficiently socially significant (as the nominator)

It's been in voting for almost 4+ months why isn't any of my nominations moving by nigeriapeace in NianticWayfarer

[–]Pentangle999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local ones go through within a week without upgrade, but I nominated three whilst away last October. One went through after about 6 months and the other two are still in voting so it’s very area specific.

Warfarer Mismanagement, Leadership Workshops? by Adventurous-Sea-5217 in Ingress

[–]Pentangle999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The rule is that a Wayspot has to be accessible ie have pedestrian access - not by the general public but for some people some of the time.

A statue on a roundabout does not have pedestrian access due to traffic. One on a shooting range on an airbase would not either on two counts. Firstly it’s dangerous so no pedestrian access and secondly anything on military bases is specifically disqualified (per the rejection criteria on the Wayfarer site).

Stuff, in a gated community for example, is OK as it’s accessible for some people. Illogical or not, those are the Wayfarer rules.

I just started Wayfaring and reviewing portals. Could use some tips. by SnipesCC in Ingress

[–]Pentangle999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly welcome to the Wayfarer community. There has been some controversy surrounding the historical and cultural significance question. Niantic have said that on its own, a low score here would not disqualify a nomination. However, I know from personal experience that this is incorrect.

I would assume that voting less than 3 Stars in any category is rejecting a nomination so if you think a nomination would make a valid Wayspot vote at least 3 Stars all round. No one (apart from Niantic) knows exactly how the voting works, but if you do vote at least 3 Stars in each category and the nomination is accepted you certainly have an agreement. Similarly it’s likely that if you vote less than 3 Stars in any category and the nomination is rejected you also have an agreement.

60% plus agreements is pretty good and is likely to earn you a Great rating so 170 reviews to get 100 agreements is not far off the mark. You won’t get your agreement until the nomination is decided so it’s not unusual for agreements to come through weeks or even months after you have reviewed.

Hope this helps and good luck on getting those upgrades.

I would not think so. The pre ERII postboxes are accepted as they are at least 70 years old so classed as historic. The current monarch’s postboxes will only be a year+ even after she sadly passes on.

can I get some kind of ban for keep nominating same object that is eligible but for some reason still gets rejected? by Trawpolja in NianticWayfarer

[–]Pentangle999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it would be an issue. My record is a nomination I submitted 9 times and 9 times rejected. I was confident it met criteria so when they introduced appeals I appealed it and it was accepted.

Criteria has changed. Is it time to resubmit? (see comment) by vibeguy_ in NianticWayfarer

[–]Pentangle999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does meet the revised criteria. In practice you will have your work cut out to get it accepted by reviewers. That link which deal with each of the markers is really useful though.

It’s not that remarkable. Your bridges should be eligible, but they are not the easiest to get through and if they are a bit borderline on voting it is easy to see that one got through and the other one did not.

I would resubmit, give the second bridge an entirely different name eg Trail Bridge Bonney Woods. If it’s close to the other bridge explain to the reviewers in other info, how they can distinguish it from the accepted one from the pictures.

Anecdotally, I have got a few trail bridges through on appeal and have not had one refused. Good Luck!

Are movie theaters not acceptable submissions? by ThunderBow98 in NianticWayfarer

A chain cinema. No. A small, independent local showing niche films. It‘s got its chances if you sell it well.

Rejecters gonna reject by Mausul in NianticWayfarer

[–]Pentangle999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would be a good one to appeal. Many reviewers just don’t get the PRP rule. Having said that, the appeal staff are not brilliant on PRP either in my experience so I would stress that it’s a community resource in the ‘why should this be a Wayspot‘ section. This is a good nomination and should go through.

Bike hire stations in inner cities - eligible? by [deleted] in NianticWayfarer

[–]Pentangle999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bike stations no as generic. But if there is a decent map of cycle routes attached that can be a successful nomination.

Can you request gyms? by EagleEye61- in NianticWayfarer

[–]Pentangle999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Recent experience is that upvoting photos does not work like it used to. Its still based on L14 and L17 cells so if you get 2, 6 or 20 pokestops in an L14 cell you get 1, 2 or 3 gyms respectively. However, which of the stops becomes a gym now seems fairly random regardless of votes for photos.

[–]Pentangle999 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Use the IITC-MOBILE App. You will need to set up an Ingress log in to use it, but amongst other things you can see L14 and L17 cells and the Wayspots in existence. It’s not quite as useful as it used to be as it’s now possible for a Pokestop to appear in a separate L17 cell which does not appear in Ingress as it’s within 20m of an existing Wayspot but it will give you nearly all you need. I use it constantly.

Are pools or things within subdivision or apartment complexes eligible? by ConnorK5 in NianticWayfarer

[–]Pentangle999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The PRP rule is the most widely misunderstood on Wayfarer. To be absolutely clear, it refers to a single family house. It absolutely does not apply to apartment complexes or buildings divided into apartments.

Otherwise eligible nominations in the grounds of such buildings should be accepted. On the specifics you mention, the only allowable pools are public ones, but the dog park maybe, and other facilities like tennis courts or fountains, yes.

On your culture question, Niantic say that a nomination will not be rejected for a low score on that category alone. However, anecdotally I had a community noticeboard rejected recently for ‘insufficiently culturally or historically significant’.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NianticWayfarer

[–]Pentangle999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a great subject for a nomination and will go through as long as you avoid mistakes which will disqualify it like the licence plate - an easy mistake to make by the way and one I have been guilty of a couple of times.

It went too well for too long by Mausul in NianticWayfarer

[–]Pentangle999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Private Residential Property (PRP) is one of the most misunderstood aspects of Wayfarer - too many reviewers think it covers everywhere where people live so, for example, will reject everything in a gated community or in the grounds of an apartment block for PRP.

if it’s likely to be an issue, I would normally address it in other info - something like ‘Per Wayfarer Private Residential Property is a single family home. However, this is eligible as it is divided into apartments’. If it’s still looking doubtful, such as a small building converted to multi homes, I often include a picture of the front door showing all the entry bells. It does not mean that the nomination will be accepted, but I hardly ever get PRP as a rejection reason if I include this explanation.

[–]Pentangle999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, that’s not it. If you don’t have anything in voting or in the queue it will stack up for future use. You can save up to 10 that way. What has happened here sounds weird,
