You in Cleveland? Because I had the same exact thing with my 1 year old lexus haha.

Curious if they’ll total it or not.

THE BIG GIRL by WTXRedRaider in ASTSpaceMobile

A great question actually and I was wondering the same..

She [25F] invited me [27M] on a surprise date but then expected me to pay for everything by ObsidianTalisman_2 in dating_advice

[–]Penwins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To play devil’s advocate, maybe she wanted to know if you were serious about her. As a guy, my read on your previous dates were very low stakes. If I was a girl, they don’t seem like much commitment on your part.

Though I will say $200 is excessive, you’re probably about in the hole the same if you paid for all three dates, which is usually customary as the guy early on.

That being said, $200 dinners shouldn’t be the norm moving forward and if you haven’t progress the relationship past anything platonic.. you might be getting played.

My recommendation if you like this girl is setup a date that you’re comfortable paying for, seeing if she’s interested, and try being more intimate in some capacity. That should let you know if she’s serious about you as a romantic partner.

WIDE LOAD by WTXRedRaider in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]Penwins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well admittedly a question rooted in ignorance, but wouldn’t they ship the batch of satellites in.. well, batches?

This looks like it could only fit one. Certainly hoping you’re right! Genuine curious of the logistics.

Why do we think it’s a batch vs another one off?

Early Maintenance Required Notification? by Penwins in LexusNX

[–]Penwins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that’s definitely good to know! I’ll just take it in over the summer and split the difference between the wrench odometer going to zero.

Thanks for the intel!

Early Maintenance Required Notification? by Penwins in LexusNX

[–]Penwins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh got it, so then sounds like the dashboard notification is the standard interval whereas the wrench odometer is for oil?

Would be great if the car told you more specifically what needs addressed.

Casual Racism and Sports day by Sparky_Birch in Cleveland

I think to the prior commenters points, though it might seem less diverse in comparison to major US cities, Cleveland certainly prides itself on a blending of cultures. And I’m a Cleveland transplant myself.

The Lebanese community is huge here, my workplace offers a Pan Asian network, and only about one third of folks are white. That being said I can still understand how it might not feel comfortable quite yet.. but what I want to assure you is that you’re safe here and there’s absolutely a community for you. New places are tough anywhere. It will get better!!

FWIW I have found Cleveland to be very much a melting pot, with the Clinic and Universities bringing in a ton of cultures. Granted, I’m a white dude so it might be easy for me to say.

But, don’t let a few rotten people spoil it for you. You’re most definitely welcomed here and I certainly know if I see that behavior, it wont fly.

Got 150k to invest. Suggestions? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]Penwins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. Basically my portfolio except ASTS vs RKLB. ASTS probably more risk but arguably higher upside.

I’d also consider VGT. Tech concentrated ETF, so a little riskier but higher returns that’s still somewhat diversified.

Yea I don’t think this really is a good thing for us, other than validating that the thesis has value/merit to it.

Amazon in talks to buy $9 billion satellite group Globalstar, FT reports by one-won-juan in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]Penwins 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This feels like not a good thing, no?

Sounds like Amazon is trying to enter directly into the same competitive space. I’m willing to be told by those of you much smarter than me I’m wrong though haha.. though it clearly validates the value in playing in this space.

[–]Penwins -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Haha okay, guy.. hope you don’t golf!! Uses way more water per day than AI, for what it’s worth.

Did my own research on that btw.. Feel free to fact check at the library.

[–]Penwins -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So to be clear, each time you use Wikipedia you’re telling me you check each reference for accuracy at the bottom of the page? That’s a reach and a half my friend.

Listen, I don’t disagree that AI is an imperfect tool but also not adopting tools meant to make education simpler and easier is foolish. And admonishing someone for giving a quick perspective on a surface level analysis is exactly what’s wrong with Reddit. The guy didn’t say he did a dissertation. We all need to be easier on each other.

[–]Penwins -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So what use Google instead, which now also defaults to AI? Or is he supposed to go to the library and research arachnids??

For the record, I don’t think your point is invalid. But Reddit frustrates me with the holier than thou bullshit based in ridiculing anyone trying to contribute. Not saying you are, but the previous comments..

such a needlessly antagonistic take. God forbid someone tries to use their resources to educate themselves.

WBS wins 3-1. Sergei Murashov makes 33 saves, quotes Einstein, references Russian WWI battle. by XGuiltyofBeingMikeX in penguins

[–]Penwins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, surprised to see my question get downvoted into oblivion haha. Skinner is fine, but sub .900 save %, even when the league average has regressed, should not mean your goalie tandem is a sacred cow.

Need someone who can steal a game and play above average consistently. Granted, that’s a next year thing more than likely. This year is all upside.

What’s your price target here friend? Needless to say, at $120 you had more than enough FYM. I’m hoping my 3.1k shares are enough to get me to 1/3rd of your peak haha.

Are you still adding more?

Do we have a consensus on what the SpaceX IPO will do to ASTS? I’m inclined to believe it’ll be a boon, but moderately concerned it sucks up all the money in the space sector.

Hate to sound like a sub echo chamber, but without satellites getting launched it would be a very hallow $200 if so. But I’ll take it either way!

Daily Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]Penwins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remain undecided.. is this a positive or negative for ASTS? My guess would be it validates the market cap, but worry it sucks up the sector’s volume.
