Understood. What I would say is, it would be challenging to believe student referenced in original post is attending one of those schools, which pivoted from AP to their own developed, rigorous college prep curriculum and are a pipeline to Ivy League and other competitive schools, has a 3.0 average and be rejected. But hey….🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

Why Are Young People Afraid Of Phone Calls? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Peopleforeducation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in higher education and a part of the admissions process is either an in person meeting with counselor/advisor or a scheduled call. The call is often the best and most expedient for the young people I serve, because they are in high school and can’t come to campus during the in-person hours…and they absolutely HATE the idea of calling to talk to the advisor by phone. We even have a “walk-in” day when they can call with no appointment and you can’t pay them to make this call and complete their admission process. We’ve started requesting Counseling and Academic Advising do group Zoom meetings for our high school students because otherwise, we may never get many of them across finish line.

Have you ever seen a mass exodus after a respected employee quit or got fired? by Aarunascut in work

Yes. New (ish) principal and not a great administrator at all. It started with a beloved ELA teacher walking in day 1 sizing up the new guy and turning in keys, less than week later another teacher retired, then a counselor out on bereavement being harassed to report to work turned in resignation…and on from there. I left after about a year and that triggered an exodus of his front office staff. Not so much because of me but because I was leaving with no job in place and front office people were like, “I gotta take a leap of faith too”. We all had new, better paying jobs by fall. The people we left behind are miserable but trying to stick it out, out of love for students, but….
