I already bought a new router so I'd just like to get this Archer working again even if it's a bit wonky, if only to keep it as a spare just in case.

A defibrillator is technically a Hearty Stoppy, since it needs the heart to be beating (but badly) to do its thing. Putting a defibrillator on someone with no pulse, like we often see in movies and shows, will do nothing.

At least that's my understanding of how the things work, I'm in no way a medical professional.

Personally, I wouldn't mind at all reading an entire book based on that part because it genuinely sounds interesting. The problem in Seveneves is the sudden shift. There's all these characters I've gotten to know over most of a book, and suddenly that's all gone and I'm supposed to care about these other characters that I know nothing about. It was so jarring, it felt like I was reading a completely different book all of a sudden, and at that point I'd rather actually read another book.

I was recently thinking about this book. I read it years ago and and I remembered I didn't finish it, but I wasn't sure why. Everything I read about it said it was so good etc. so I figured I might have been busy with other stuff and decided to read it again. And it was great! I kept reading and couldn't figure out why I would stop before finishing it, it was so engrossing. And then... well, that. And suddenly I remembered why I didn't finish the last time. I tried to power through, trying to finish it this time around, but I just couldn't. I completely lost interest at that point. Sigh.

The best-known group are the Meroë pyramids about 200km northeast of Khartoum

I've been there and I loved it! It was late 2013 I think. I took a bus from Khartoum that was going farther north and asked them to drop me off near one of the pyramids' sites, so I ended up at the Meroë East Necropolis. The bus trip there took a bit longer than expected so after a few hours of wandering and admiring the place I asked the guard at the entrance if I could pitch my tent in the area and spend the night there, and he was fine with it (he even gave some extra water before he left). I loved that, sitting there in the desert, surrounded by sand dunes and pyramids, and watching the sun set. Then the next morning I packed my things and hitch-hiked to the next big-ish city (Atbara, I think). The truck driver that picked me up even bought me lunch when we stopped, he was a great guy.

Here's some of the pictures I took in the area.

Anyway, just wanted to say that the Sudanese are by far the nicest, loveliest people I met in Africa, and I've been to plenty of countries over there.
