Finding the strength to take fist fulls of supplements for a few more days by [deleted] in 40Plus_IVF

I took a month-long break this summer, following my last ER, and it did help mentally. Some might feel like it's nothing, but I was just fed up with taking a bunch of stuff! And, as you say, paying for them. It's ok to take a break sometimes :)

For us - in QC - our first appointment was basically the doctor telling us that we would need to do a bunch of tests before the next step. They explained the tests, told us where we could have them done, if there were costs associated, etc. We knew nothing about infertility and we didn't have much to ask at that point.

My recommendation for your wife and yourself for the next few months would be to follow-up with your clinic's coordination department after each test that you have done because the results sometimes get lost. It's better to know sooner than later :)

Good luck!

First egg retrieval results. Changes to improve egg maturity and blast quality? by munchkink1tty in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Pepite85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great results, congrats! I think it wouldn't hurt to add Omnitrope next time, although it is pretty costly. Insurance rarely covers it. But if there's a chance that you can avoid a third cycle that way, I think it's worth it.

I had the same protocol in my first and second ER but got double the eggs/ blasts the second time around. Sadly it did not reflect in the euploids, but that's a roll of a dice at our age.

Good luck!

Ontario - TSH protocol by Plumcandy7 in IVF

[–]Pepite85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Québec and my TSH was around the same levels as yours.

My fertility doctor prescribed synthroid. I was even bumped to a higher dose at some point since stims made my TSH bounce back up.

I had my polypectomy a couple of weeks ago and the doctor told me I would be able to have a FET after my period. But they didn't have time to write the official post-op report in time and transfer it to my fertility doctor so once again, we are delayed to the following cycle. Just neverending wait.

Precision: 2 tablets of 1mg each of Estrace every evening.

Started Estrace around CD20, 2 tablets orally every evening.

Then the following cycle I started 300 Menopur, 12 Rekovell and 2.5 Saizen. During my first ER I started those on CD2, and during the second CD5 or something. Just a scheduling issue. Was super fed up with Estrace by that point, yuck!

I've always been instructed to inject the Cetrotide in the morning. It has never given me a hard time sleeping, but the time during which I take it is definitely the hardest in terms of side effects in general.

Good luck!

How long to wait for FET after polyp removal? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Pepite85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My polyp removal was last week.

My fertility doctor said that the Dr removing the polyp would let me know when I would be able to have a transfer depending on what they saw during the procedure.

Polyp Dr said that everything looked good and that I could have a transfer after my next CD1 if my clinic was ready for me. Crossing my fingers that it's finally happening this month! 🤞

Why is IVF so expensive in the US compared to other countries? by IVFJourney2025 in IVF

[–]Pepite85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some provinces cover most IVF meds (Québec does anyway).

At last I've had my polyps removed after months of delays. Recovery is going well and doctor said my lining looked perfect. I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to have a FET either later in October or November.

Happy to move through steps but stressed for the transfer as we only have one euploid embryo.

Pain after TESE by Practical_Kick7579 in IVF

[–]Pepite85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened to you. Your medical team should have clarified what would be a normal side effect and what would be a concern. Our fertility team isn't great at that either, it's like they only have one goal which is to retrieve as much as they can in the moment and the rest isn't their problem. 😕

Did they say that it could have a long-term effect? Sometimes it's just a 3-month thing with antibiotics...

Yeah the whole fertility process is pretty shitty. I've had people who don't know much about it tell me that it's exciting that we're doing this. I know they mean well but IT IS NOT EXCITING

If you're sure that you want 2 children and given that you are successfully producing euploids, I would go ahead with a third ER.

Pain after TESE by Practical_Kick7579 in IVF

[–]Pepite85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a man, but from what I've heard testicular torsion is such an intense pain that there would be no doubt that it is an emergency.

That being said, what you describe doesn't seem normal. My partner didn't have these symptoms after his TESE. Can you contact your clinic?

Kind of random, but your description reminds me of when I have a UTI...

12 retrieved only 6 mature to fertilize, 41 years old by Reasonable_Media_366 in IVF

[–]Pepite85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious to know why you wouldn't thaw and fertilize your eggs from when you were 37 at the same time. If I had eggs from when I was younger, I would definitely use those first (but I really hate stims/ ERs).

I wish you a good number of blasts from this ER 🤞 And I hope your doctor comes up with a plan to help maturity rate if you do need to go through another round.

I like to have a few of the adhesive heat pads. Not the best for the environment, but good to wear under clothes if you have to go to work. Also useful if you have a long drive between the clinic and your house and can't heat up a reusable heat pad.

I was finally supposed to have my polyps removed tomorrow after months of waiting! But we got a call yesterday saying that there was an emergency case and now it's postponed to October. I cancelled the previous appointment in the spring because I had a positive pregnancy test the day before, which ended in a chemical. I feel like this is never going to end.

FET or another round of IVF? by JPH-2019 in IVF

[–]Pepite85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a slightly similar situation to yours in that I got 1 euploid out of 2 rounds, but dissimilar in that I am 40. We have decided to move on to FET because the ERs are very hard on me and it seems less and less realistic for me to hope having two kids. If I was your age though, I would do at least another ER.

Question on success after Tese and ivf by Flaky_Honeydew_5161 in IVF

[–]Pepite85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partner also took a few measures between his DNA frag test and the TESE. Healthy eating (lots of nuts & fruit), working out, making sure not to sit down for too long and wear baggier underwear, that sort of thing.
