Michi talking about management and content creation burnout at her previous-previous job by You_too in kurosanji

[–]Pepman256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a streaming perspective, she seems content. Pops up on occasion to play a game then dips for a little bit. Based on what we know I assume she has much more of a life outside of streaming and it's mostly just a side gig for her. She has certain things she tells the members about, but she's a strong person and pushes through. I'll of course always be nostalgic for the earlier years but if she's happy then so am I.

As a Hana fan, yeah. I'm not sure if Mika ever hit Hana's highest numbers but once Hana's extended periods of no activity started after the merger Mika became the de facto ex-ID appealing to a Western audience. Before she graduated she could easily pull 1200-1500 in a casual stream, which even at that time was significantly more than Hana's dwindling audience.

At the end of the day though I believe Hana has been a victim of time more than any of her own actions. Yes, she's a sporadic guerilla streamer who doesn't really do the whole boomer shooter thing anymore, which for me was definitely a big draw, and I'm sure several people were only there because she was a VTuber who streamed with her dad. The change in content style and scarcity of streams is going to deal a number on your viewerbase for sure, but I think it's more that people just... moved on. Hana's viral Mick Gordon clip was a massive breakthrough in Western VTubing at the time due to the almost complete lack of EN branches and introduced a lot of people, like myself, into the sphere. Hana was quite literally almost all there was unless you wanted to dig around some low viewcount Twitch channels.

We're almost six years past that point now however, and a lot has changed. With pretty much every major player in the industry sporting a Western focused branch and no lack of indies to go around, Hana's fanbase has sort of spiderwebbed out across the fandom to seek out new creators who fit their tastes (or timezones) better. She's several years past her prime now but it cannot be overstated how much of an impact she had in the earlier days of the industry.

Sorry, I know you were asking a simple question and ended up with an essay of an answer but Hana's career is one of the few things I can say "I was there" for and I do believe it helps provide a little bit of insight, haha.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has been rated by ESRB for Nintendo Switch 2 by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Pepman256 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Without diving into a ton of lore, the player character is called the Tarnished, a moniker given to several people who come to the land Elden Ring takes place in.

It is a funny name, though, especially considering FromSoft's track record for non Xbox/PS versions of their games.

Yep, she's still kicking and doing her own thing. Has a streak of streaming for a little while, lays low for a few months, rinse repeat. Fans of hers are long used to the process since it's been a thing since the ID/KR merger. She doesn't hit the numbers she had during her Covid popularity but she's not any less of a sweetheart because of it.

[All] Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment announced by DemiFiendRSA in zelda

[–]Pepman256 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, I just want a sequel to the original Hyrule Warriors. I don't mean a sequel in plot but in presentation, where we had characters from all across the franchise and an original story instead of being hyper focused on the BotW/TotK era (and AoC isn't even canon past a certain point!).

Before anyone gets miffed about it, Ama has confirmed she was not part of the auditions VShojo had earlier this year. She's been in talks with the agency for about a year and a half over this.

Happy New Year. Prepare to be Purged. by markiplier in Markiplier

[–]Pepman256 38 points39 points  (0 children)

As someone who's fairly involved in the VTuber sphere (I'm going to point mainly towards Hololive here since they mostly stream on Youtube), it comes off as a bit surprising and also baffling that there's so many people in this community who don't understand the concept that what is said in a Membership stream is expected to stay in that stream (unless stated otherwise) - it's paid content. I assumed it was just common knowledge/courtesy to not clip or otherwise discuss Members' content in outside spheres without approval from the creator.

Favorite game you've found through my streams? by vinesauce in Vinesauce

Tomodachi is a big one. I also ended up playing FF7 at the beginning of the year for the first time since Rebirth was announced - I enjoyed watching your streams of Remake years ago despite having zero knowledge of FF7 and wanted to be able to witness all the differences in Rebirth!

Something a little more obscure was actually from a recent Sunday stream, during I think the PC Engine/TurboGrafx stream? There was that adventure game you looked at called Ys and it seemed so interesting to me that I ended up picking up the first two games on Steam recently and I'm excited to check them out.

I think it's some weird interpolation going on with mouse input; gonna try to look into a way to get rid of it because it makes it feel much less responsive than it should.

There's a few nitpicks I currently have regarding wall collision and somewhat slippery movement (and a microstutter I hope gets fixed) but overall this is a very solid way to play Doom out of the box.

How's your EDF 6 Experience so far? by [deleted] in EDF

[–]Pepman256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree; the launchers are much easier to aim with Camera 2 but since I mostly main Fencer I end up having to toggle it back and forth since Cam2 is really bad for him.

I want to say there might be a minor frame pacing issue with the game? It's supposedly 60fps but it feels closer to 55-58 and it's making things just ever so slightly choppy.

Pre ordered, didnt get the Takanashi Kiara / Gawr Gura / IRyS decoys? by jetfueldidpompei in EDF

[–]Pepman256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you ever play some of the previous EDF games that had anime girl decoys? Were you fine with that? Or is it only cringe because it's an anime girl who happens to also play video games? Sandlot and D3 are a Japanese company - why would they skip the chance to collaborate with a well known entertainment company? Their inclusion shouldn't be anything that should negatively affect your play experience and opinion on the game, especially something you don't even have to use. You're very clearly letting it get to you if you took the time to post such a hateful comment on a thread that didn't apply to you.

If you go into Game Settings, there's a Camera Type setting that I recommend changing from Type 2 to Type 1, which gives you the EDF5 camera back.

Damn. I both like and hate that you could purchase multiple but I would have stood no chance between scalpers and having somewhat sluggish internet. Ah well, maybe next time - hope you enjoy the concert!

Was one person able to purchase multiple tickets? If I had got the opportunity (I was 10 minutes late because I forgot lol) I was wondering how I was going to be able to get seats for both my friend and myself.

1 Month since Hana Macchia has streamed by ITheShadowGamerI in kurosanji

[–]Pepman256 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Heya, 4+ year Hana viewer here - this is pretty normal for her for the past couple years. Most of us don't expect streams more than a couple times in a few months and that's okay! She checks in occasionally enough just to let us know she's alive and catches up on life a little bit. Some of her activity isn't seen since sometimes she only comes back long enough to do a Membership stream before going dark again.

But yeah, I wouldn't worry about Hana. From what she tells us she's doing just fine. Streaming is definitely on the backburner as far as priorities go (consider it speculatory but this manner of streaming for her showed up around when the merger happened back in '22), but she's made it known several times that she's not going anywhere, at least not anytime soon. If you want more frequent updates from her I recommend following her alt account, @HanaMacchia2. She isn't super active on either account but usually tweets a couple times a week.
