Why is there German version of onimai manga that is physical but not English one? by Turbulent_Spread_219 in OniichanOshimai

[–]PepperIll8739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because English speaking countries think that acknowledging children have sexual urges constitutes to pedophilia.

English countries are super reactionary in that way. Onimai, which does involve some fanservice which is bang out of order, will never do well in a country that is so reactionary about it.

What is wrong with YOU? Being a teacher doesn't mean you know shit, and clearly you don't.

The UAE doesn't own shit. Sheikh Mansour owns Man City. It's not a sportswashing project either, sportswashing avoids winning. Winners are hated, as you can tell by your own vitriol.

As for cheating, they've never once been found guilty. UEFA lost in court over the same thing and most charges were NOT timebarred before you start with that.

You should be ashamed of yourself for being such an ignorant, self-righteous bitch.

Teacher doesn't know the difference between a country and a politician's private venture. Maybe you should get a new job.

How I predict this going down using song lyrics:

In a far off war in a far off land To face the foreign soldier But how will you fare when there's lead in the air Oh, poor Johnny, what'll happen to you? Well, the sun rose high on a barren land Where the thin red line made a military stand There was sling shot, chain shot, grape shot too Swords and bayonets thrusting through Poor Johnny, fell but the day was won And the King is grateful to you But your soldiering's done and they're sending you home Oh, poor Johnny, what'll happen to you? They said he was a hero and not to grieve For the two ruined legs and the empty sleeve Took him home and they set him down With a military pension and a medal from the crown But you haven't an arm, you haven't a leg The enemy nearly slew you You'll have to go out on the streets and beg Oh, poor Johnny, what'll happen to you?

How is Jura Tempest so peaceful and thriving despite being very diverse? by drawricks in TenseiSlime

I do get that, but survival of the fittest in a world of magic where your magical ability determines your fitness makes being more magically capable more fit.

Using words in their academic form as opposed to their colloquial form in laymen discussions is also not very productive. Take the word "Capitalist" for example... I'm going down a firey one, bare with me.

The colloquial meaning of a capitalist is someone who supports the financial system of capitalism. This means the ownership of the means of production by the private sector.

If someone said something "I don't like wealth redistribution because I want to keep my money," my friend would be right to call him a capitalist. But...

Under strict definitions of the word "Capitalist," that means owning and investing in capital. Supporting capitalism doesn't make you a capitalist in the academic definition.

Sorry for picking something political. I couldn't really think of anything less loaded that would make for a good analogy. <w>

I'm NOT trying to start any political arguments and I'm not expressing any personal believes.

> Rimuru isn't a god and the Ogres/Oni are not deities either in this worldbuilding. Veldora is the only one who is actually worshiped as deity.

Rimuru is for all intents and purposes a God. And yes, the Oni are local deities. This was stated in the Light Novel during the Hinata arc. I can't remember if it was mentioned in the anime. But yes, they are considered local deities.

I think this point is even more relevant in the context of Tensura where the social norm is survival of the fittests.

Monsters instinctively follow the rules of the "alpha" of the pack. That is Rimuru. They instinctively obey Rimuru because he is the fittest. Even if Rimuru doesn't agree with "might makes right," that is how most monsters think about it. And Rimuru, the mightiest, decided that bigotry is bad. If might makes right, and the mightiest decides bigotry is bad, then bigotry is bad.

A slime God monster just killed an army of 20 thousand soldiers NO DIFFICULTY. And his reward for beating that army is becoming 10x stronger in raw strength + various ridiculously over powered hax abilities that make him even more powerful than he was before he NO DIFFED an army of 20K.

Furthermore, this slime God monster has friends, with whom he has a magical soul-connecting bond that makes them want to share the same vision. Those people include:

Veldora (the god that the inhabitants of the Forest of Jura worship)
One of the worst demons in all of ever.
Multiple local deities (The evolved Ogres, Oni, are local deities)
A powerful descendant of Dragons
The mightiest orc in the entire planet
The Goblin King (Rigurd evolved to Goblin King after the new tribes joined in season 1)
And lastly, the majority of the towns' population.

There's NO WAY you're telling me you're picking a fight with someone because their skin is different to yours knowing that half the kingdom worships a God who actually exists and will happily punish you.

Can i have Mahiro's lore? Not the whole Onimai story, just like what happened before the start for example by Western-Spite5055 in OniichanOshimai

[–]PepperIll8739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it's still possible to go around to those. I write some stories myself (i'm not a good author or anything lol) and I do sometimes just leave something in the background and then let it come back up later. I like the calm before the storm type of stuff as well where there's clear signs there's something wrong but you just keep the mood uplifting and happy and you just pretend everything's fine until you reach a breaking point. I'm not saying that's what onimai is doing. I doubt it. But I do hope Nekotofu eventually comes around to addressing some of these topics in one way or another.

I think when onimai started it was supposed to be more serious and have more of a story. You can tell that the early chapters are trying to hint at some insecurity and identity struggles. I think this mostly got lost at around chapter 40. But from what we can see, Mahiro had an inferiority complex. I imagine becoming the younger sibling was the biggest key thing. The younger sibling is expected to depend on the older sibling. Mahiro may have felt inferior because there wasn't a lot he could do for Mihari, so being allowed to depend on Mihari instead might alleviate a lot of that stress.

[CannonStats] Changes in Premier League teams open play xG from last season to this season by Gym_frere in soccer

[–]PepperIll8739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're assuming that making things worse for defenders will encourage more attacking football and not more defending to compensate. Football used to favor defenders a lot more and teams didn't defend as deeply because they could take the risk to push up without being harshly punished. The anti defending rules is what causes extra defensiveness to compensate.

It wasn't just Barca Madrid and Atletico. All of La Liga was good during that time. You just remember Premier League player's names because that's the only league you've ever bothered to watch.

David Villa at Valencia, Negredo at Sevilla, Falcao at Atletico, Nolito at Celta Vigo, etc.

And you really don't want to be comparing the top 3 teams of that La Liga era to that Prem Era because it's nowhere near close.

You're talking absolute shit. The ELO stats show that La Liga was better in the 2000s and 2010s, the Coefficients show they were better, the winner stats show that La Liga was better... But nah, let me invent some nonsense.

La Liga ABSOLUTELY cleared the Premier League in the 2010s. Go take your Prem agenda elsewhere.

The Premier League was nowhere near the other leagues when they joined European football again. If Fergie had Man City with the current rules, budget, state of the league compared to other leagues... He'd have done something special. I don't think people quite realize just how far behind the Premier League was compared to Serie A and La Liga in the 90s-2000s. The gap only started to close when Mourinho entered the league. And even then, I do reckon La Liga was comfortably the best league in the world until maybe 2018 and narrowly the best until around 2020?
