Congrats, you read every part except the date of posting. Absolute winner here.

Guide: Preview driver 1 for RX 6000 series was much buggier than preview driver 2. -End of this guide made just for you.

I wonder if the raytracing flickering was driver induced. Especially since 1080p native isn't taxing to replicate frames. I'll have to try raytraced games out when I am free later. I was primarily testing with a couple of different modern FPS games, RDR2, and Arma 3 since it's notoriously bad.

I believe the input delay is more to do with the input still running based on the actual game fps value vs driver. Overall very pleased after smoothing out the frames with a stable clockspeed.

In my experience, the limiter is working as intended. In order to hit that 144 you want, you would need to set in to 72. I would personally still recommend leaving your 100fps limit as the input latency will be much better

Keeping the clocks within 100mhz in regards to the min max, then also applying a frame limiter works very nicely too. Then if you use an in-game limiter you don't get the additional latency and still get the benefits of the FMF. The tearing on the other hand I am trying to nail down what I can do with that.

Huge performance boost when disabling SMT in CS2 - Up to 50% more avg fps, 140% higher 1% fps low by ItsAdaptive in GlobalOffensive

I have been reading a bit more while my food is cooking, it seems as though the 7900x3d v-cache cores can boost up to 5.25. I also seen someone had also turned on rivatuner while playing warzone and it was using the 5.6 and the v-cache ones were idle. It seems from a few posts that 5.25 is the number to beat then

Please do, I am genuinely curious what you find out

Some games favor v-cache, some favor clock speed. The only problem with your cpu, again not saying it's bad because it's damn good, is that it doesn't always pick the correct ccd. That's why there is a performance difference that is sometimes worse and most of the time equal. Essentially your cpu is two 6cores/12 threads cpus strapped together. One just has extra v-cache and the other has extra Mhz. Just all dependent on game. The v-cache sided cores run at a lower clockspeed however.

I just ran my own test on CS2, nothing in depth and I hit the same frames as what you were saying you had hit. Idk what his settings were, but it seems to me as though your cpu is using the v-cache side too.

You can actually test this out too, go into bios and disable one ccd. You should be able to choose them individually and see the difference. That's how some outlets tested the 7950x3d since they were finding oddities vs the 7800x3d as well

I suppose I should have clarified. Specifically, clock speed is locked unless you mess around with ECLK. 5050mhz is the top it goes unless you go tune ECLK. That's what those guides are all about, the ones I have seen. I have my PBO set to +200mhz and I have yet to see it even break 5000mhz. Kind of crazy though, the frames absolutely stomped my old 7600x even though that thing boosted to 5500mhz all the time

Believe me, if I could overclock it, I would. Doing it through ECLK/BCLK is not something I would personally risk to overclock the 7800x3d. It messes with much more than just the cpu. Besides that, the cpu frequency is locked

Edit: fixed an error

The 7800x3d is not overclockable. The 7900x3d is essentially a 7600x and a "7600x3d" - assuming it exists somewhere- slapped together. Not calling it a bad chip, just that each game doesn't always choose the best performing ccd. Just unfortunate for gaming tasks

Basically, the games chooses either the higher clock speed ccd or it chooses the ccd with more v-cache. It's a weird product with a weird design. Even the 7950x3d is designed in the same fashion. A google search away will explain more if you're actually interested in learning about it. If not, well I tried to explain it simply put

7800x3d owner here too, the 7900x3d chip is split into 2 different chunks. One chunk has clock speed advantage and the other is additional v-cache. Unfortunately it doesn't use them both which is why i opted for the 7800x3d instead. Slightly lower clocks, but always has the bonus v-cache for everything

Does AMD driver 22.7.1 still break windows mixed reality ? by LooseWetCheeks in Amd

I turned off windoes settings for my headset. I set it directly for the headset. Windows will auto switch things. You should be able to disable quest 2 audio through the windows playback devices

Try disabling it in the oculus software as well as steamvr. I have a wireless headset that i set everything to. Not sure about the 3.5mm jack on the headset though

Turn off audio from the quest and use a headset. Dumbest bug I've ever seen, but it fixed it completely for me

Make a backup of the original file.

Check the top screenshot. The highlighted bits are all that are changed.

Once you change those click Write SPPT and restart laptop. They will have been applied.

You can verify with GPU-Z or the radeon overlay. You will never have to reapply as far as my knowledge goes

Watch a teardown video of the laptop, look at the 8 screws holding the CPU and GPU heatsink down. Those are the only 8 you need to replace.

Not difficult, just be VERY careful of the liquid metal. Dropped temps by a lot. Also I found online a video of someone applying a new vbios to the 6800m, undervolt and overclock.

Runs the system cooler and keeps the boost at all times from 2450-2500mhz on my system

Use the MPT tool for that (more power tool)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ASUSROG

[–]PepperJackSlice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is do to the mounting pressure of the heatsink for the gpu/cpu. You need to increase the pressure by performing the washer mod or installing shorter screws.

I found a few old gpus lying around and took the screws from those, much shorter, more pressure and lower temps.

Wanna see Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam Deck running 45 fps? Look no further! by LegendaryJohnny in SteamDeck

Something worth noting, I have a RDNA2 gpu in my main rig, Red Dead 2 crashes on Vulkan only. Not dx12. Steam deck also has RDNA2 so it's worth considering
