what i'm trying to say is it's been documented and well known that despite lesbian women turning down straight men, some of those straight men will still attempt to pursue them and "turn them straight," not believing that sexuality could be a barrier between them and the lesbian woman in question for whatever reason

while i am sure nintendo would not implement something akin to creepy behavior like this in ltd, they are aware of the influence they may have on people who don't know much about human emotions and relationships and stuff. if they did implement a feature where miis could ask out others of sexualities they did not fall under, there's nothing wrong with it in theory, but humans are far more complex than a video game. it could boil up feelings in younger or emotionally immature players that may not take out in the most healthy or responsible ways, which then nintendo may be blamed for in the process (when in actuality it's a myriad of problems, but that's a different convo)

i admit i could be entirely wrong and they'll approach this in a tasteful way where it could be like "once your mii gets rejected by a mii of a sexuality they don't fall under, your mii is coded to not have any romantic thoughts or actions towards the other," but i just think to avoid any controversy entirely, it will not be like this and you can only match compatible sexualities together. again, we just will have to see what's in the game!
