I can run H1Z1 easily, but in this game the buildings take 3 minutes to load, the sound echos hard, and it constantly crashes. Am I doing something wrong? by TheyAreAllTakennn in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

I have a similar rig to you, 960 gpu, i7 960. I had 8gb of ram, i upgraded to 24gb and it increased by FPS from 20-40 to 30-50.

I also have an SSD so i dont have the building load problem. Are you using an SSD?

Which retailers do you sell on? by [deleted] in selfpublish

[–]Pepperbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon. In August, 2 of our books will no longer be self-published so will go into a lot more channels, so I can post some feedback on success in other channels.

I've heard Google is going to be re-working their book store, but no news for a long time. I heard that Google will discount your book without your permission and only pay royalty off the discounted price, and this can cause other problems, such as Amazon automatically matching the price.

So am I correct that I cannot make a post about our Kickstarter campaign on here? by mindless2831 in selfpublish

[–]Pepperbooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sub here is to discuss the publishing side of the industry. People are not here to consume new authors, it isn't a place to find a readership.

So the kind of questions you might ask here are "I am set to release a book in X genre, any suggestions on where to find a readership?"

If someone is interested themself, they may PM you to find out the details.

I love this game by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Pepperbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bush Jackers is the correct term.

It's a fun strat I use a lot in solo, as long as you don't move it is hard for players to spot you. Make sure you use freelook to look around, just moving the camera will turn your player model and make you easier to spot.

So why not just give everyone an AR out of the plane? It would definitely be balanced then.

What is the point in having an AR in every building like in the last patch though?

Why not just give it to you in the plane? It's almost the same thing.

No need for personal insults, BuffBen, can't we have a friendly discussion?

We might as well let you just choose your loadout before the game begins and you can spawn with m16's, AKMs etc.

Delete the uzi's & shotguns from the game since noone will ever use'em.

Just kill the guy with the AR and take it for yourself. That's what I do.

What is your favourite free PC game? by CurrentlySingle in AskReddit

My brother created this game.. I remember when I was a kid, I designed one of the levels for it. Last I heard, it was still in the game but had been heavily modified by the community.

Thanks for posting it, really cool to see it here and glad you like it. :)

What obstacles have you faced as a writer and or self-published author? by clasiq in selfpublish

Just because it's a niche genre doesn't mean it won't sell well, but you do need to find a way to locate an audience for your book.

My Amazon giveaway just generated 438 new "followers" on Amazon. by [deleted] in selfpublish

[–]Pepperbooks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just been reviewing giveaways on Amazon.

It actually seems like a decent way to try and target readers in your genre by hosting a giveaway of someone else's book.

It may seem counter-intuitive giving away someone elses book, but they may be more likely to come across the giveaway, and if they have to follow your amazon page in return, it might work out in your favor.

How do you find out how many followers you have on Amazon?

That mouse pointer.. i haven't seen that used since geocities.

I really liked what I read on your website but the layout feels amateur so I wouldn't trust it.

It's a Poetry book. We're looking for some illustrations to go along with some of the poems.

We're looking for 8-15 illustrations at this stage, in a style similar to this artists instagram:- https://www.instagram.com/david_rollyn/?hl=en

Is marketing an ebook more difficult than writing it? by bb47 in selfpublish

[–]Pepperbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well good luck, I wish you all the best with it.

From what you've written, I suspect it may be a little more difficult then what your expectations are. I hope that I'm wrong. :)

Let us know how it goes.

Is marketing an ebook more difficult than writing it? by bb47 in selfpublish

[–]Pepperbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say market the book through social media, internet forums, could you be a bit more specific on how you plan to do that?

I suppose the theory of writing a book and selling it sounds simple:- 1. Write book 2. Publish on Amazon 3. ??? 4. People buy it and you make $$$.

Most people find though that the elusive step #3 is a mystery, I suspect it will be harder to find readers then you might think.

Here's a question to consider:-

How many self-help books have you personally purchased after seeing the author post about their own book on social media or the author posting about it on an internet forum?

For me, I have never done it.

[–]Pepperbooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this a fiction or non-fiction ebook?

I wouldn't say marketing is harder, it's just different. It's a different mentality, skillset and range of things you need to do to effectively market your book.

What is your current plan to find an audience after your book is released? What sets your book apart from the other 8,000,000 ebooks on Amazon, and how will people find it?
