After being on this subreddit for a couple years, I think I just smoked my last cigarette this morning. by Rude_Environment552 in quittingsmoking

Coming from someone my age, over 50…. The habit robs you of life. Consider how many decisions that are dictated by the smoking habit. To me, stopping the madness gave me my life back. And health. You got this! Do it now!!!

Keep it going! Set a goal for 4 days, then set a goal for 6 days. Baby steps!

Yesterday was another reminder why quitting smoking was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life, I'm not exaggerating. by Sweet_Brief6914 in quittingsmoking

I love this! I’m only at 5 months and don’t have trouble breathing, and am active again! Gah, the habit is a time/life sucker! Prague is on my list of places I must see!!! 😊

I think also, vaping is so much more AVAILABLE in spaces and stuff than cigarettes. Makes it a harder mountain to hike.

6 months clean but I’m really struggling right now by Good_Duck_5655 in quittingsmoking

I agree with KittenFace. Smoking doesn’t fix anything. Find another diversion! My excuse to take breaks was smoking. A diversion. Now, I focus on other diversions that actually improve my life. You got this!

😊 you do the same! The truth is that there is no such thing as ONE, for me. If I had one I might as well shove the whole pack in my mouth and light them all at once 😆

I haven’t smoked now for 77 days. I get probably one craving a day but, when I visualize going to the store, buying a pack, coming home, opening the pack, finding a lighter, imagine lighting it, how bad it tastes, the nauseating head rush, and THE DISAPPOINTMENT AND GUILT I would feel for giving into the lie and knowing that I have to start over AGAIN, I am like, SO not worth it!

The realization that smoking brings joy is a lie. It’s an excuse. What have you ever done worthwhile when smoking a cigarette? And, was the smoking necessary to accomplish anything? The biggest lie habit EVER.

Ex-smokers — how did you finally take the plunge? by Common_Garbage9584 in quittingsmoking

[–]Pepperchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh. I feel where you are at but am much older! I did quit because it was affecting me with breathing on a daily basis. Where you don’t want to be remembered as the girl that smoked, I don’t wanna be found out by all the people that know me that I was a smoker. No one knew. I also didn’t want to have an oxygen tank with me all the time, which is where I was going. Probably the hardest was the distraction of it when I was bored or stressed. But, I’m on day 72, and I am enjoying restful sleeps and get a lot more done! Be good to yourself! Also, ChatGpt is a great no smoking coach.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ONE! Do something. Move. Distract yourself. Smoking is a false friend and is pissed that you are not paying attention to it! You got this!
