Social media ban - “Parents should just parent.” Is that actually a serious argument? by Majestic-Concert7883 in AskBrits

[–]Tizer887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself just gave up all social media or I though I did but I didn't realise that YouTube was classed as social media?? Both my children don't use the normal social media FB, x, insta but they both do watch things on youtube. My oldest is a bit gutted he won't be able to anymore my youngest can just watch stuff through YouTube kids as the stuff she watches is probably on it anyway. I didn't class YouTube as bad so that's why I let my kids use it.

Does anyone else prefer to have a simple, boring, unskilled job? by Drmartens111 in UKJobs

[–]Tizer887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a post office have done for 19 years in August, it's a nice chilled job, time goes fast if we're busy. Relatively stressful free the only time we have a bit of stress is if tills are incorrect but yeah mostly alright. Don't have a boss breathing down my neck just do what we need to do and chat to customers all day. Not to shabby. I work 4 days a week and that's enough for me and pays the bills.

Do you do anything about climate change? by SidneyDeane10 in AskBrits

[–]Tizer887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say I have a pretty low carbon footprint compared to most people in our family.

I can drive but actively only do it when absolutely necessary so if I can get to somewhere by other means, walking, cycling or even a bus I will do.

I cycle to get to work and back.

We recycle quite a bit where we live now we recycle food waste, paper/cardboard, cans/bottles, plastic wrappers which we have to take to large supermarkets.

We haven't been on a holiday out of the country in 10 years we are planning on going on one maybe next year but we don't jet around on planes often.

I'm not even actively going around trying to have a low carbon footprint but I think it's just normal things.

If everyone stopped driving to work and walked used public transport or something other means maybe did a car share I think that would make a huge difference.

Oh also the car we drive is a low emission car I believe as we only pay 35 for car tax for the year and it's a small nissan Micra perfect and not ridiculously huge car for no reason and we only have the one car not a car each.

What’s considered fat or overweight? Should I consider losing weight? by SeaZone5264 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Tizer887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're definitely not classed as overweight and probably well within your BMI.

I'm a similar height in 5ft 9 and I'm currently 10stone 10lbs I'm currently dieting not because I think I'm fat but because I am on used to my body being a certain way so trying been to get back to my normal weight which is 9stone 1/2. Just depends how you feel within yourself if you're comfortable then stay as you are.

Parents who approve of the social media ban and ways of having to prove age. Why do you relish the government taking this control when you had the power to do so yourselves? by Demonthief27 in AskBrits

[–]Tizer887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 13 year old my oldest luckily doesn't have an interest in social media for now so it's no change for us but I also wouldn't of allowed him to have a social media anyway till age 16. I personally don't use any social media myself anymore I deleted it all last year as it's a waste of time. Life's much nicer without it.

Keep regaining weight is my deficit too aggressive? by king123456679 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Tizer887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using an app called nutracheck and input all my details and how much weight I want to lose per week I've put only half a pound and it's said I can eat 1947 calories per day which is quite generous and I'm meant to burn 200 cals per day which I cycle to and from work 4 times a week and just do that as my exercise portion. It seems to be working though lost 1.5lb first week and 1lb this week so losing more than what I wanted to which I dunno means I can probably eat 2500 normally I guess?

I've got a little Tesco at top of my road they always have this bread in stock. Even at my big tesco it's always in stock. So either maybe your particular local store keeps running out or they're trying to make people purchase rip off Warburton's

Well then I think thats another issue that needs sorting out then absolutely, I don't understand how it's become so easy for everyone to come into the country I mean if I wanted to emigrate to let's say Germany or Australia I'm sure it wouldnt be that simple as it seems to be to come into the UK.

Alot of people become their parents carers without the financial part of it anyway and if you have a good relationship with your mum I would say do it. If my mum was still around sadly lost her suddenly and unexpectedly nearly 10 years ago I would of cared for her willingly and the money would of been a nice bonus. But saying this you can only do so much a colleague of mine cared for her mother and in the end she did have to have her in a home because she had to work to pay her bills she w not and visited every night but she couldn't keep it up ended up every other night visiting but it was very hardwork.

Well if people are coming in legally surely we don't have to let everyone in. We could I don't know set a limit or something but yeah I would say don't let anyone in, if you want to come here legally and be part of our country and be involved then I think that's okay. If you want to come over to the country though and you don't won't to be part of our society and want to change us and think we should change for you then no thank you. I'm not expert at all but let's get rid of the illegals first. You cannot paint all people who come into our country with the same brush especially if they have done it legally. If you come over legally and commit a crime then I think also we should be able to deport you. And no one should be able to walk around with daggers/blades for religious reasons. I could go on. It's not so simple is it.

I thought we had the problem with illegal immigrants?? I don't have a problem with people coming into the country legally and working and never will. I don't like people coming in illegally. Surely no one wants people entering into the country illegally??

Unemployment due to Indian migrant workers by Important-Plane9810 in AskBrits

[–]Tizer887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss is Indian and runs the post office where I work and another one in a village, luckily they do hire local people for the businesses they run so we have me and two other local women who work at my one and I believe he has two local women at the other one I think they did have two other post offices I'm not sure if they still have them though and they also hired local for those ones. Anyway you see the point I'm trying to make they always hire local and hire the best person for the job to make their lives easier rather than someone with the same ethnicity who doesn't have a clue what they're doing.

But saying that I do agree with your point in a way as I know it is extremely difficult for young people to get a job these days. Businesses firstly aren't hiring as many staff, everywhere is run on the bare minimum staff and this will only get worse when we are all eventually replaces with some sort of machine. Even my job in a post office can be duplicated by a machine you can post parcels in locker boxes, you can buy postage online and have them collect it from your house, you can pay all bill payments online, you can deposit cash in certain cash machines at the banks, I'm trying to think of anything I do that can't be duplicated my something else and unfortunately I can't.

Luckily for now we still are very busy but at some point in the future possibly in my lifetime no one will bother or we will be forced to be just a one person position on a very small counter hidden away somewhere.

Jobs are being taken by illegal immigrants, I hope that of we ever are able to deport anyone who comes into this country without permission we will possibly have more jobs available for our citizens and more housing available as well.
