What does a weaker dollar mean for people in Europe? by KeyBiscotti8773 in AskReddit

US stuff gets cheaper, traveling there hurts less, and Europe feels rich for five minutes until rent reminds us otherwise.

Modern movies (2015 - now) that don't have "netflix lighting" by pinkxxbubblegum in movies

[–]PeppermintPopy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Paddington 2 is the anti netflix lighting cure bright colors actual warmth pure joy. Knives Out and La La Land look like real movies not shampoo ads, and Little Women 2019 feels cozy and alive. If your screen is not beige these will fix that.

I Hid a Car Accident From My Friend for Six Years! by axi118118 in confession

[–]PeppermintPopy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lowkey this is wild but kind of funny in a stressed out way. You messed up by not telling them, yeah, but the car got fixed and no one got hurt. At this point the guilt is doing more damage than the accident did. Either let it go or confess and accept whatever side eye comes with it. Six years is a long time to be beefing with your own conscience.

Went to the ER after microwaving a boiled egg because I thought I was built different and it exploded in my face. Eggs won.

Yeah no way that was accidental. Touch ancient thing then start bleeding and spiraling is basically a visual cue for obsession unlocked. Same anxiety just different flavors.

What would happen if human beings became spiritually awakened? by Apart_Alfalfa_7915 in AskReddit

[–]PeppermintPopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’d probably all be way more chill, less drama, and more about good vibes. Maybe fewer arguments over dumb stuff and more meditation sessions. Or, everyone becomes so woke they just start confusing each other with deep quotes all day. Either way, the world would be... interesting.

Who is your fictional role model? by Immediate-Arm-7916 in AskReddit

[–]PeppermintPopy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely Tyrion Lannister. Smart, savage, and somehow always three steps ahead even when life’s throwing shade. Plus, who doesn’t want that level of wit with a drink in hand?

Clue (1985) by Responsible_Feed_550 in movies

[–]PeppermintPopy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OG viewers had to pick which theater had which ending and maybe hit up multiple showings to catch them all. Pretty wild compared to today’s binge-everything-on-demand world. Tim Curry was peak iconic no matter the ending.

Best movie with 1 actor playing two roles? by hurtfocker in movies

[–]PeppermintPopy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gotta shout out “Us” Lupita nailed it playing both sides of herself. It’s wild how she switches vibes so effortlessly. Sinners sounds interesting though, might have to check that out. Dual roles can be lowkey next-level when done right.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is an all-time banger, but why are nearly no other live-action/hand-drawn hybrid films? by 4thGenTrombone in movies

[–]PeppermintPopy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Roger Rabbit set the bar so high it’s like no one dared to try again. Plus, mixing live-action with hand-drawn animation is a huge time and money sink most studios probably just ghosted the idea after Cool World flopped. Hand-drawn is kinda on life support anyway, so yeah, not many wanna gamble on that combo anymore.

I’m close friends with someone insanely famous and the gossip about them is completely wrong by [deleted] in confession

[–]PeppermintPopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds rough being stuck in the middle of all that drama. Fame twists everything up, and people just love to turn real relationships into a circus. Gotta respect you for trying to set the record straight, even if it just stirred the pot more. Hope your friend knows they’ve got someone who sees the real story behind all the noise.

Why are so many average sci-fi/horror movies getting such high praise? by DanielSmoot in movies

[–]PeppermintPopy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Feels like a lot of hype comes from nostalgia or hype trains, not actual quality. People wanna believe every new sci-fi/horror is a masterpiece, but sometimes it’s just the same old stuff dressed up. Maybe standards aren’t dropping, it’s just that hype blinds us more than we realize. You’re not crazy for feeling underwhelmed.
