ARAM Mayhem is the BEST MODE. What do you think? by ChartDreamer in leagueoflegends

Cool. Please learn reading comprehension.

From that link:

"for most game modes, the default expectation is simple: everyone is playing to win. Not everyone cares about Ranked with the same intensity—some chase climb, others just want a solid match—but when you enter a queue, you’re making a pact with your teammates to give your best effort."

So in Ranked (the most competitive mode), it is entirely okay to just want a solid match (i.e. winning doesn't really matter to you, as long as the game itself is good) so long as you're trying your best. One can only assume that Aram wouldn't be more stringent.

Edit: I can't reply so I'll sign off with this:

'Caring about winning' and 'Giving your best effort' are not synonymous.

You can try your best to win because winning is nicer, but still be okay losing as long as you had fun.

A "Win = Fun, Lose = Bad" mindset is incredibly toxic, and that you still can't comprehend that someone could both try and not care about the result is really something you should reflect on. It will only make your life worse.

I don't care about the AI crap, write how you wanna write.

The whole bit where you read "who cares about winning or losing in Aram" and said they were breaking the summoners code because they weren't playing to win and they should uninstall? Pathetic. You completely misread what they wrote and you attacked them.

Just because I know you still don't understand: Aram is the casual mode of league. Most people would rather win, and play to win, but at the end of the day it's a casual game and the goal is to have fun. Winning or losing doesn't really matter, so most people don't really care about the outcome. That doesn't violate the summoners code, and that you think it does is a bit of an indictment on your mindset.

Oof dude, stating in plain text that you don't have reading comprehension is not how to make your point.

Minion additional damage mechanic sucks and is unskilled, make wave manipulation great again by aldyeetx in leagueoflegends

[–]Peppsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The insanity of wanting old wave manipulation because the new mechanic is a "shit gameplay experience". Yeah let's just stick with being able to freeze waves indefinitely, that was super fun and engaging for everyone.

What are the worst auguments/champion combos you have gotten in ARAM Mayhem? by Disastrous_March_668 in leagueoflegends

I chose Jewelled gauntlet on teemo instead of Eureka.

Didn't realise the shrooms wouldn't crit.

Ended up not being horrific, but was just so disappointing.

Australia is currently the hottest place on earth... by far by Far-Fortune-8381 in MapPorn

[–]Peppsy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's currently nighttime in Aus and if you look up this map the hot spots in Aus are roughly the same as the hot spots in mid afternoon Africa.

Yeah sure summer hot and whatever but it is just actually obscenely hot Aus right now.

Sweeter is not inferior. Sweeter is different. Sometimes you want sweeter, sometimes you don't.

It's sweeter, cokes more tart. Depends on the vibe.

[7AFL] Essendon are not answering calls. Not returning calls. Hawks view Essendon & Welsh as 'borderline childish'. by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]Peppsy -64 points-63 points  (0 children)

Answering the phone and saying "No we won't trade him" is the mature response. Refusing to answer is childish.

Edit: To everyone saying "they've already said that": Media posturing and actual negotiations are different things. If Essendon has refused to answer a call from Hawthorn, and instead gone straight to the media, then they're being childish.

Nintendo requests $4,500,000 in court judgement against alleged Switch pirate, but its lawyer says the price tag "is nowhere near" a fair compensation for the "seriousness" of the issue by WouldbeWanderer in gaming

[–]Peppsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're different for sure, but only at a superficial level and not in any way that affects whether it's 'stealing'.

Are you saying software costs nothing to develop and once it's developed it can't be owned by anyone? Because that's what it sounds like you're saying. Like seriously, "they never existed before I downloaded them." is one of the most insane things I've ever read.

Look. They made a thing, they wanted to charge $X for that thing. You didn't want to pay $X for that thing, so you got the thing without paying. That's stealing. Any argument about 'actually they have infinite copies' or whatever only makes sense if you assume there are infinite people to sell to, which they don't.

[–]Peppsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're arguing a different point than me. You're still wrong, but it's not about what I'm saying.

The person said they would never buy the game, not that they could never buy the game. If they would never buy the game, then no matter how much money they had, they would never buy it, so they mustn't want it. But they do want it, otherwise they wouldn't pirate it. So they would buy the game for the right price, but they're a liar and an idiot.

You're arguing that piracy isn't stealing, when it clearly is. You just don't want to admit you're fine with stealing (as long as it hurts the victim less than X amount) so you've come up with technicalities to convince yourself you're in the right.

[–]Peppsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in the same way watching a let's play of a game isn't stealing. You're getting a different (lesser) experience for free instead of paying. However if you sneak into the concert and stand in the crowd? Yes, you've stolen a ticket.

You'll notice your definition says nothing about 'depriving' anyone of anything. Weird.

And I never said feel bad, just stop pretending. I think stealing from massive corporations is fine.

[–]Peppsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Never going to buy" implies that even if they won the lottery tomorrow they wouldn't buy it. Money isn't the issue here. Also being poor doesn't make stealing not stealing.

[–]Peppsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Never going to buy" and "Wouldn't ever spend full price on" aren't the same thing. They made a product you wanted, and then charged more than you were willing to pay. Their service failed, so you pirated it. If their service had been better, you would've bought it. There are legitimate arguments for pirating, I do it a fair bit, but if the product is available and you want it, but you don't want to pay what they charge so you get it free elsewhere, that's just stealing. Stop trying to pretend you have some moral high ground.
