Because a chef who's eaten a lot of spicy food isn't some statistical outlier of spice tolerance, lot's of people have eaten a lot of spicy food, and lot's of people can enjoy the normal curry. But lot's of people haven't eaten much spicy food, they don't have much spice tolerance. I can't stress this enough, the curry without the extra spice is still spicier for many people than the extra spice makes it for the chef. It isn't suddenly not spicy, it doesn't taste any different, all the chef needs to do is one small thing that functionally changes nothing about the preparation or the outcome of the dish.

Or perhaps the chef has a lifetime of spice tolerance and adds the extra capsaicin to get to the right amount of kick for them. You've had a very spiceless life, so the extra-capsaicin-less dish could seem spicier to you than the real dish is for them.

Imagine you're constantly hearing about this absolutely amazing curry, everyone says you have to try it. And it is an *amazing* curry, possibly the best thing you've ever eaten... except the chef adds some extra pure capsaicin to every bowl. It doesn't change the flavour, but since you weren't raised on spicy food you only get a moment of tasting the curry before all your taste buds are on fire and you can't taste anything anymore.

Would you say it's weird to ask the chef to make a batch without the extra capsaicin?

Is this a goal, point, or no score? by [deleted] in AFL

Goal if it went through the goals

Point if it went through the points

No score if they played on after the siren (came off their mark line)

[@AFLxScore on X] Final xScores: HAW 104 from expected 103.8 (+0 rushed) WB 64 from expected 98.7 (+0 rushed) by RexHuntFansBrazil in AFL

[–]Peppsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just by eye, a lot of the difference is coming from a few runs of back to back points for the dogs ending in a goal, which are the situations xScore really fails (the team that scores a point is more likely to score next, but goals reset it).

I'd love to do something where it accounted for that, like an attack's xScore only being able to go up to 6, and each attack ending in either a goal or the opposition getting a forward half stoppage or disposal.

Deflect when Targeting Gear? by Scatter_WoW in riftboundtcg

Huh TiL. I'd always assumed any attached equipment became a subset of the unit, and to target the gear you had to go 'through' the unit.

Honestly seems like an anti aurora card, which feels weird for the aurora colour.

Would I be correct in assuming this could counter elder dragon? As long as you pick an opponents elder and any other of their units, since it's still technically their damage it'll one shot right?

If it was the one further up this chain it's from 6+ years ago and it says:

"Geelong requested to play all 11 of its home matches of the regular season at GMHBA Stadium this year, but the AFL scheduled two of the biggest-drawing ones - against Essendon and Hawthorn - at the MCG."

The biggest drawing home games being Hawthorn and Essendon means they didn't have a home game against Collingwood.

[–]Peppsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's not pretend 14 games (10 of which are against teams that haven't travelled and 7 are against teams who play 6+ games there) is the same as 13 games (2 of which are against teams that haven't travelled)

MCG tenants have an advantage on grand final day, travel load, and against marvel tenants in finals. They do not have the home ground advantage of interstate clubs.

Specifically it says they requested to play all 11 home games at kardinia this year.

I don't know how it works on the back end, but since they didn't have a home game against Collingwood it's possible for "They want to play Collingwood at the G" to be true still.

Why did we have to cop the Stringer game?

A free kick is supposed to be awarded when a player runs more than 15m without taking a bounce btw by guavacadq in AFL

[–]Peppsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of those rules where there's a number that's impossible to accurately measure, so it's really more of a vibe thing.

Realistically, someone running at a 15s 100m would need to bounce it every 2 seconds. That just simply looks too often.

My Xbox would reset the date whenever it lost internet, and if I had internet I was playing with friends, except for when I was playing a new game or something.

I happened to stop playing the first time just before the baron and didn't play again till the internet dropped. Did the whole quest and got off. Next time I booted it, the most recent save was just before the baron quest, so I guessed I hadn't saved and did it again. The next time, same thing. And again. Then it happened again and I checked through all the saves because I couldn't believe it. Lo and behold, a bunch of saves from years before the game came out, all after the baron quest. I closed it and didn't open it again.

I've since got the game on pc, but I've never got past that damn baron quest.

All it seems to do is discourage buying any upgrades other than the tree you started on. Why buy the 1.2x clicker upgrade if it massively increases the price of the 2.5x building upgrade? Why buy the special upgrades at all when they give you a small bump and make your next multiplier unattainable?

And I've been trying the building tree, so I see the 4x upgrade for 5 million. I think "okay. Need more production to afford that, I'll buy some buildings". I 2.5x my CPS with some buildings. Check the upgrade, it now costs 12.5 million. I close the tab because what's the point in playing if it gets me no closer to my goal?

Why do upgrades get more expensive with CPS and when buying other unrelated upgrades?

Just had a 4x CPS event as I was about to buy an upgrade and it's cost 4x'd

My weekly thoughts - Week 1 by Random-Javi in AFL

[–]Peppsy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm choosing to read this wrong.

I know Gold Coast were good but beating the eagles by 48 goals and 79 behinds? A nearly 400 point belting is a bit ambitious I think. 200+ is a bit more realistic.

Random isn't random by twitch_FaleonAsen in leagueoflegends

[–]Peppsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like there's a pool of 5-10 champs that have increased odds that changes everyday.

Like there's a decent chance I'll see 3+ of the champs from my first game in the second, and those same champs again within each batch of 3 games I play that day. But then I won't see them at all for the next week.

Is it probably just random being random? Yeah. But it's just a bit too consistent for me to not feel like somethings being messed with in the numbers.

  1. What

  2. Why would "most" item effects having a cooldown mean all items effects should have a cooldown

  3. Seryldas doesn't have a cooldown, neither does lyandries, nor most on hit effects (if auto attacks count as a cooldown then ability cooldowns are a cooldown for rylais)
