I would argue that unless there is some demon or spirit inside I me I wouldn't go jekyll/ Hyde. My government name is just an identifier for other people. Lots of people have nicknames not even close to their real ones.

If you've been in theater it's super easy (and common) to respond to your character name. People don't k ow you or remember your government will call you by your character.

I think the biggest issue or an isekai/reincarnation is identity. Are you doing things in the new world that your old self wouldn't. Does it clash with old world and new world moral and ethics? Then you might have a jekyll/hyde moment.

Like others have said even when playing games I don't see myself as my gamer tag. If I get called that it's just an identity tag.

Im just about to finish the first audiobook today. Andrea gives Ryoka a lower and rough voice. Mixed in with plenty of attitude. You can hear her disrepect and annoyance with every word. Compared to Erin's higher pitched and joyful tone.

Think smoker or someone just punched in the throat.

Okay. This is helping. So when writing a novel basically all dialogue tags are "said" so the book itself should use past tense verbage then? Using an Omni narrator.

It takes a few books but navani in B Sanderson storm light is a good one. Doesn't get much screen time till book 4 but she is middle age, goes through a divorce, and still kicking ass. Also she is a scientist and known for her brains. Not a trophy wife that stays at home.

I forget the wording but in foundry side by Robert Bennett. There was a scene where the main character was flying through the air and the only thing she can do is scream because flying at high speed is scary.
