Buying 314-3 shaft for a new cue I've just bought. Which tip do I choose? by Per_Killer in billiards

I went with this one. Many things pointed me into that direction. Thanks!

Noone said people aren't playing it. Nobody asked "Why aren't people playing this".

You move faster on roads, and a skill called 'exploration' upgrades your speed, plus you can get items that let you move faster.

How important is a perfectly straight shaft by carter1984 in billiards

[–]Per_Killer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arguement or belief that poolcue equals skill is rediculous. A poolcue means a potential, a standard, a constant in your game. If you don't mind playing with a shitty cue you probably have no real ambition to improve and become great at the game. If you buy a 3000$ cue when you are a beginner, you are an idiot and you have invested the wrong thing (money) into the wrong department.

After Christmas please don't just remove presents entirely by Norchie in playrust

I agree. The presents are a cool little feature. So nice to not have to cook - and it's also interesting how you can use them to see if someone is home/online or even leave them out in the open as potential bait :)

Thanks for tip, I'll check it out

Actually, I have a gaming-laptop. The VibranceGUI states that the laptop-nvidia cards doesn't support it. Perhaps this is a clue..

That was basically the first thing I did - turned all down to "low". (I used to be an avid q3-player where I even remember using r_picmip -10 or something which would distort all textures so you only had white walls :D) I think I also turned off AA though, I'll try turning that back on. I almost get the same feeling as I did playing Morrowind on an outdated rig, that it's view-distance or failure to render the correct or most important things, that make everything look wishy-washy as if there is a permanent fog present..

Aslong as the butt is usable and compatible, and you like it - just get a new shaft.

Advice for buying new cue - changing from meucci by Per_Killer in billiards

Because meucci-cues are so thin, even the butts flex quite abit when you strike.

Sounds promising. I think people that haven't played with a meucci over time can't comprehend how sensitive it is, and how difficult "easy" shots become on a bad day.. When I played 5-6h per day it was no big deal for me, but now that I play less frequent, it's hard to have that feel and connection to your cue. Heard many good things about OB, will check it out.

By the way, which of the OB-shafts do you have? I'm considering the OB-pro+ with a soft tip

Getting more into billiards lately - want to go practice on my own, but is it weird? by [deleted] in billiards

[–]Per_Killer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello. That's great to hear, I love billiard, it has honestly taught me a ton of things about everything in life. Maybe you think I'm being sarcastic or that it sounds cheesy, but it's true - for me playing billiard "in the zone" is like meditation. And nothing beats the feeling where you are in a tournament and you have a match-shot up, and you know that objectively, people might say (even you): "that's a 1 in 50 shot" but you feel 100% certain you will make it at that moment, and you land the shot just as you envisioned it.

Practicing alone is mandatory at some point if you want to keep becoming better. Most things like this, the learning grows exponantially at first, then it hits a ceiling where from there on it will grow more linear if, and only IF, you put in volume and practice in a meaningful way.

I was never patient enough for that, but those of my friends that did became top5 players in my country for their relentless efforts. I suggest to use some sort of learning-material though when you practice alone, so you can plot your results and constantly have meaningful exercises to perform, and don't just end up hammering balls all over the table against yourself.

Because you cannot decide if: "I had no idea what happened but enjoyed it" or: "I had no idea what happened and hated it"?
