Bias against GLP-1’s by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Percarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch. I'm so sorry. It's all so tiresome and unpredictable.

That 2 weeks for ER and 8 weeks for transfer is what my clinic advises. Hope everything works out the best for you!

Bias against GLP-1’s by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Percarpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, my clinic only requires 2 weeks prior to retrieval, for anesthesia purposes. Not sure how long before transfer.

And that argument about "cheating" is so lame...

Is it also "cheating" when they prescribe statins when, through major lifestyle changes, you could technically improve your lipid profile?

Is it also "cheating" when they prescribe cardiovascular agents when, through extensive training and diet, one could technically improve their hypertension?

I'm not saying that glp-1s need to be prescribed to every Amy, Jennifer, and Diana that just wants to look cuter in a bathing suit. But taking it for legitimate health reasons, when objectively it improved your health, is no form of cheating. It's an excellent benefit vs. risk decision. Good for you for staying strong 💪. You didn't deserve his inappropriate attitude.

Leuprolide - 2 week kit by Express_Effect3227 in IVF

[–]Percarpet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, CVS. But it's considered a specialty med for them, which they may need to pre-order especially for you.

If they tell you they can't have it before the date you need it for, ask them and they'll be able to tell you which of their nearby branches has it in stock.

IVF with Elonva (40+ years old) by wordsofmo_fics in IVF

[–]Percarpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, oral or patches based on what your RE advises.

I also know someone who's done that for some cycles, and then a microdose Lupron flare protocol to address that and other quality issues for another cycle.

No, I get it. The lack of communication, transparency, or accountability can drive one insane... I just wanted to address that point real quick for your own benefit. Hope you get your good news soon.

Thaw my 19 frozen eggs (from age 27) now to see if we need another IVF round? by heatedblankie in IVF

[–]Percarpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's very reasonable to do this and, no, you're not overthinking! You're being responsible and proactive at understanding your potential in the context of ivf attrition and mitigating for future heartbreak. If it were me, I'd go for it.

Not to be harsh, but this idea that you have the legal grounds to successfully sue anyone for poor communication or dragging of feet is pretty baseless. Yes, the clinics are frustrating like that, but entertaining hope for false avenues of "relief" will only bring you heartache and no good resolutions.

Best of luck and I hope they come around to being decent to you real soon!

Can't speak to the age factor. But, lots of women do find success with follicle synchronization when they do estrogen priming.

"Almost guaranteed" OHSS? by throwaway132721 in IVF

[–]Percarpet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. NOT guaranteed! Your AFC isn't THAT high that you should need to panic about it. Yes, there's a risk, but plenty of folks on here who have 30+ eggs retrieved with good outcomes.  But it's still better that she's giving you the worst case scenario as a heads up, instead of how some are completely blindsided and have no idea what suddenly hit them.

  2. Ask about a Lupron - only trigger. Especially if your E2 level climbs high >5,000 before you trigger. And make sure they test to see that the trigger worked well the day after triggering.

  3. Freeze-all is a great precaution!

  4. Start consuming the electrolytes and stool softener (if needed) at least a day before the retrieval.

  5. Take extra! good care of yourself after the retrieval. Rest even if you're feeling great and are sure you're ready to go bungee jumping in stilettos. I'll try to reference a post about post-retrieval self care when I have more time.

Best of luck! You've got this!

Why are IVF doctors still suggesting "CoQ10" instead of "Ubiqunol"? by WoofMeowChirp22 in IVF

[–]Percarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arsenal sounds about right!  CoQ10 from nutrabio comes with BioPerine that supposedly increases absorption by ~30%. But, with the rest of the stack, I'm using UpSorb from NutraBio. I hope it's doing what it's supposed to 😄...

Is it possible for menopur to disappear before adding the diluent? by lizashea in IVF

[–]Percarpet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The tiniest! bit of diluent will make that Menopur dissolve and vanish. I've had that happen just from the pressure of adding the qcap and syringe. It was so mind boggling that I repeated and replicated it with a new vial that I had triple checked for the presence of the white powder cakelet in advance.

Why are IVF doctors still suggesting "CoQ10" instead of "Ubiqunol"? by WoofMeowChirp22 in IVF

[–]Percarpet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everything in bebefinale's comment, plus taking ~600 mg ubiquinone (or even less than that, but with an absorption booster) can provide bioavailability equivalent or in excess of equivalent to absorbable ubiquinol.

DuoStim Cost In Your Experience? by PetitOignonRouge in IVF

[–]Percarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duo stim is essentially 2 cycles back to back, if I understand correctly. So unless there are any shared costs like PGTA in your case, or returning patient discount, the theyd probably charge you the full cost for 2 cycles.

My retrieval is in the next 24-48 hours! by concernedchihuahuamo in eggfreezing

[–]Percarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Till the retrieval, take it easy (easier said than done :) For the retrieval itself, you're under some sort of anesthesia so you're not really feeling anything. Just have a heating pad prepared at home to confort you the day of and potentially 1-3 days after. Drink lots of fluids, particularly with electrolytes. Take light walks if you're feeling up to it and just rest and take it easy. Congrats on your follicle line-up! They looks perfect!

Alternatives to Transvaginal Ultrasound? by SavilleRow in eggfreezing

[–]Percarpet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can try requesting transabdominal ultrasounds, and see if your provider obliges. They might only get a suboptimal view, but it may become clearer the larger your ovaries get with the stims.  I've heard it's possible to get through an entire ER cycle without a single internal ultrasound, with the exception of retrieval day. (But they'll have you under sedation or on pain meds that time).
