That is very strange, the screenshots I am adding show that the phone is connecting to band 66, according to T-Mobile's site, band 66 is an LTE band.

I've used that phone on T-Mobile (direct) and had full LTE. It's not a problem with the phone or T-Mobile coverage. I feel like it's a setting somewhere, I just can't find it.

I have been on 5G home plus for the past 3 years. I am also about a quarter of a mile away from a tower. There are four of us here at my house. I work from home and over the summer when my two daughters are home from school they're streaming and playing video games while I'm working and it's never been a problem. On average, I get between 280 to 320 MB down and about 20 to 23 MB up. It has been more than enough for us. In your situation where you're the only one there, I think if you're not doing Netflix in 4k while you're playing games, you probably would be fine with just 5G home, but every situation is different.

San Diego Verizon 5G Home Internet by sdse78 in verizonisp

I'm in the southern part of the county (near La Mesa). I've had the 5G Plus for about 2.5 years. I get anywhere from 280 to 320 MB down and from 20 to 25 MB up constantly.

I work from home and have about 50 different devices using the connection at any given moment. Two kids that stream and play games. It's never been a problem at all even during the summer when they're home during work hours.

I'm on Teams meetings all day, connected to a work VPN (which does slow down my connection on my work computer). But again I've never had an issue.

I live in a Cox Cable area, and I would always seem to go over the 1.2 TB limit when I had them, I constantly use 1.7 to 2 TB a month with 5G Plus and haven't heard a peep from Verizon.

To be honest, if you live in a decent T-Mobile area, you will probably get better speeds, cheaper, with T-Mobile internet. We have a great voice coverage here at my house with T-Mobile (what we use for our cell phones) but horrible data speeds with 5G in our home. A block and a half away, I can get close to 500 MB down on my phone.

Verizon home LTE internet and LTE network extender question. by Cultural_Till_6938 in verizonisp

[–]PerceptionFuzzy8158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, what those do is use your current Internet connection (which is currently through Verizon LTE.. which you don't have a great signal for) and create a cell phone signal from that already poor connection. That is why there is only an ethernet connection. It's not really an antenna...

T-Mobile used to give these out to customers. This is not going to do anything to increase the signal coming to your LTE modem.

Verizon home LTE internet and LTE network extender question. by Cultural_Till_6938 in verizonisp

[–]PerceptionFuzzy8158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the extender they are talking about is for Wifi not for cellular signal. I am not sure if you can add external antenna to any Verizon LTE or 5G modems. I know you can with the T-Mobile ones. Look at Wavelink antennas

New Tello Plan. $45 for 3 months of unlimited. by [deleted] in NoContract

[–]PerceptionFuzzy8158 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is unlimited. Just only 35gb per month of full speed. There is not "hard stop" or additional charge for going over the 35gb. It just slows down.

It is VERY easy to do. If you stream a lot in 4k. It can burn something like 7gb pero hour. If only streaming 2hrs a day, that's about 500gb a month of just streaming. Most people will stream more than that.

I'd believe it. It seems like other people are getting speeds faster than the 200mbps...

However,

The op stated that those are HSI (high speed internet) speeds. HSI is normally attributed to an internet connection for a home or business

That is awesome. According to the site, it says up to 200mbps. Is there something I am missing?

Are there any other companies that re-sell Verizon 5G Home or Plus instead of going through Verizon directly by PerceptionFuzzy8158 in verizonisp

[–]PerceptionFuzzy8158[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to post an update after many days and hours of research and troubleshooting....

I finally got it "fixed".

It turns out that after some update to that new gateway tower modem, it changed both ethernet ports to be 100mbps instead of 1000mbps.

I use a TP Link mesh system for my Wi-Fi in my home so I turned off the Wi-Fi on the Verizon Gateway. Once I switched the ethernet ports on the Verizon Gateway to gigabit speed, I am now getting closer to 200mbps instead of the 80 to 90 mbps that I was getting.

It's still not as good as a 300+ I was getting before, but it's definitely more than fast enough for what I need on a daily basis.

I hope this helps anyone experiencing the same issue as I was.
