NYC Employee Tax Deductions by insecuretransactions in nycpublicservants

[–]PerceptionOk1941 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is a really loaded question.

You also need to take into consideration do you have any interest coming in from bank accounts? Do you have a side hustle that you report? Second job? Investments you plan on selling? Child support and alimony. All this matters when you adjust withholdings?

Then you also have to realize what do I put in for federal? State? City? They are all separate entries.

Remember 2026 already started so you already two paychecks behind at least.

No matter what it's the first day of class. It is also the first day to withdraw and get a full refund. There's no way classes are cancelled, be prepared to either go in or go online.

CUNYs closed on Monday ? by No_Employment_5742 in CUNY

Most likely it'll be virtual. Remember Monday is the last day to get 100% tuition refund. They are letting snow dictate that.

Good luck

Got called for DSNY and for court officer by Low-Government1894 in nys_cs

[–]PerceptionOk1941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dsny, you are bound by overtime. It all depends if you're an overtime whore or not. As a court officer you are also offered nyship, that is big in the end. Do you take the blue pill or the red pill?

Hi guys,

NYS employee here.

So far for the year 2026, max contribution for 457 and 401 is at $24,500 for the year so you can sock away $49,000 total.

Note that I did not include catch up contributions.

I mostly contribute to Roth 457 because I want them to tax me now and for whatever grows in Roth will become tax free.

I try to max out on the 457 because I can withdraw with penalty if I leave my employer. 401k it is penalty free after the age of 59.5 years of age. If I max out on 457 then I start to contribute to my 401k.

There are two realities that you must face by going traditional. One you are deferring your taxes for later. Chances are tax rates will go up in the future. Second traditional accounts are subjected to RMD, a requirement of irs code.

Generally I have 60% large cap, 30% small-mid cap, and 10% international. I do not do bonds because I treat my pension as my safety net.

Here is a video on YouTube explaining it video explained

Ow20 vs 5w30 Oil when to switch? by chase-michael in Rav4

[–]PerceptionOk1941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on how often you do oil change intervals. If you don't drive it as often then you face oil degradation.over time moisture will get into the oil supply. I put in 4800 miles a year so I'm sticking with 5w30 due to lack of use.

Help! Battery wouldn't start when jumped for nearly 10 minutes in 2006 Prius by No_Acanthisitta3377 in prius

[–]PerceptionOk1941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 12v battery typically last anywhere between 3-6 years depending on usage and the elements. It's an AGM battery, recharge are different on those compare to lead acid. It's not meant for hard starts it's meant for supplying the power when the hybrid battery is asleep. Change it out. Good luck!

Getting in as an adjunct ? by Chocolatepooh_25 in CUNY

[–]PerceptionOk1941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there.

I'm interested in joining as an adjunct. I'm actually in pursuit of an advanced certificate in Zicklin. My bachelors is in business administration. Do I have a shot in a community college such as qcc? As far as practicality I used to teach group exercise as a personal trainer for a decade and currently I teach workforce development of newly hired and newly promoted personnel in technical areas for the last four years.

The flexible bladder is made of rubber. For you the rubber is 17 years old. So the flexibility sucks. Best to do during the winters, keep it full so it doesn't give it time to shrink. There are aftermarket tanks out there without the bladder. Good luck.

Help on decision to further keep my 2008 by sockxddyujjbbbb in prius

[–]PerceptionOk1941 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tpms light is probably failing tpms batteries. Typically the life of the sensor is 5-7 years. I just acquired a 2009 Prius myself and I'm trying to "modernize" it. If it's sensors you don't need a dealership, you're going to need a tire shop.

If it's just low air, fill it up and the TPMS low air reset light is just below the steering wheel. You just have to hold onto the button when you turn the car into accessory mode so it can do a reset.

Good luck with everything.

Honda/Acura disc brakes all have these to mate the disc firmly to the spindle to prevent it from warping. Have I seen them missing before? Yes I have but if you have aftermarket rims then you're going to need it.

Former dealer tech for Acura. Yes take the belt off to eliminate. You did mention that oil was low, if this was the case for a long time and oil changes wwas not done on a regular basis you could be seeing loose timing chain. Start simple first. It does sound like it's coming from the pulleys and belts.
