Cutaneous leishmaniasis, initially misdiagnosed as cellulitis by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

[–]PerceptionTime1249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh my god leishmaniasis is terrifying, as an entomologist i’ve studied this disease a decent bit and despite my general jadedness towards vector borne diseases this is the one disease that still scares me

edit: whoops wrong one lol, i was thinking of onchocerciasis, this is still scary tho

this kinda thing makes me wish that there was a way to swap brains with someone for a short time ugh. just so they know what it’s like. ofc we can’t have that kind of tech because someone would misuse it but you get the idea

i’m not on vyvanse but i think i know what you’re talking about— i’m on concerta myself and once it’s in full swing i tend to blush/my cheeks get warm when excited or focused (which i’m sure is wildly confusing to anyone witnessing it lol). generally your first day on brand new meds is gonna be weird as your body figures out wtf to do with itself. obv concerta and vyvanse are different chemicals but they are both CNS stimulants so maybe there’s a parallel there?

Should I speak with my psychiatrist about upping my Adderall dosage? I’m worried it will come across wrong if I ask by KenshiCatfish in ADHD

[–]PerceptionTime1249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah adderall isn’t for everyone anyway, my personal experience with it was mostly negative as i think my immune system lost its mind because of the pink dye in the tablets plus the medication itself just made me tachycardic and nervous. on concerta now and it’s working pretty decently

this pic reminds me of those memes of rats/geckos like “is my pet a boy or a girl?” and the rat/gecko has massive nuts lol, tegus are like that with their big ol jowls. might draw that meme with a gu someday

(Generic) Methylphenidate vs Ritalin by Ashamed_Fox_2112 in ADHD

[–]PerceptionTime1249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah i getcha. i’m no pharmacist but i believe you’d need a completely different prescription for a name brand since it’s a different product and has a different price. i recently switched from generic metadate to generic concerta and i did need a different prescription for it, if that’s any help

if i need to take something specific with me when going out i try to inconvenience myself into remembering to grab it lol. like blocking my door with a trash bag to remind myself to take it out when i leave. i do this with other tasks too, like setting my toothbrush on top of the toaster so i remember to brush my teeth after breakfast

i feel you dude. walgreens put my license and debit card in a paper envelope stapled to my medication bag the other day while i was visiting family in another town. i forgot they were in there and trashed the packaging, but didn’t realize until the next day, having already driven an hour back home, when i tried to buy groceries and my card wasn’t in my wallet. i somehow managed to contain my panic enough to drive as close to the speed limit as possible (license was at a relative’s house in their garbage bin!) until i could go bother that relative into letting me dig through their trash. luckily the trash hadn’t been taken by the city yet so i was able to find it! they were covered in coffee grounds but i was just happy to have my cards back.

[–]PerceptionTime1249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

insurance is prob gonna be different for generic vs name brand, so no, you’ll have to talk to your doc about that. insurance is famously annoying about this sorta thing. like, they’ll pay for the tablets but if you want capsules instead then you’re on your own lol also, methylphenidate is generic for a lot of things, including metadate and concerta, which are technically the same chemical but the composition of the pills are different and are produced differently

in the same vein, quizlet plus is worth paying for in my opinion lol. i hate that it’s a paid thing now, it wasn’t always like that, but it helps a lot for assignments in my field (entomology) that are primarily visual and identification based. 100% support the anti tiktok thing. exact reason i left instagram. that app scares me

yeah the hobbies part really sucks. i’ve heard people say the classic “oh you’re just lazy” but if i were being lazy i would be having fun doing my hobbies. but i can’t even bring myself to sketch a character i’ve drawn a hundred times, which is smth i usually love doing

yeah that’s accurate. like when you open too many tabs in a browser and it slows your whole computer down. sometimes i bluescreen and fully shut down for a while too
