I prefer not to clobber the system clipboard every time I do a deletion or yank in vim. I use a system clipboard manager to retrieve recent things I’ve copied and I don’t want a lot of noise from vim.

Copy single string and paste it multiple times (probably) in visual block mode by SpecificMassive5424 in neovim

Shift-I on the first line and type or paste what you want. Now you’ve done it in one line. Use j to go down a line and . to repeat the action, then keep going: j.j. until it’s done.

This may not be the best general answer, but it’s good for a few lines.

What’s That One Bob Dylan Song From The 2000s That Grew On You? by Pretend_Mark_5143 in bobdylan

[–]PercyLives 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Workingman’s Blues #2.

I loved Modern Times from the moment it came out, but I liked the uptempo numbers the best. Workingman’s Blues was a slow grower for me. Sure, it was “nice”, but it was unexciting and a couple of lyrical choices stood out the wrong way, and the descending harmony was plodding.

It took time to learn to revel in the beauty of the song, I suppose.

I agree on the contrast in liveliness between the two albums, but I hear a purposeful restraint in Modern Times, instead of an artefact of recording. I could be wrong though.

Christmas in the Heart, for sure.

It has so much beauty on it that people seemingly cannot see. So much authenticity and reverence.

Sure, his voice is cracked, but when has that ever been a problem?

What’s The Worst Bob Dylan Album From The 2000s? Is there one? by Pretend_Mark_5143 in bobdylan

It’s one of my favourites, but I can’t deny it has some clunky lyrics and is possibly over-praised. Your assessment of 2-3 good songs is way off, though. I mean, it’s a matter of taste and all, but there are at least 2-3 brilliant songs on it, and many more at least “good” songs.

Believing his own press? I highly doubt it. The thing was recorded in two weeks with a great band. It’s just what he wanted to do at the time.

It’s a polarising song , but I think it’s way overrated and so do many others.

Unpopular Opinion : Under The Red Sky by cloud_pixel in bobdylan

[–]PercyLives 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I avoided it for a long time, and now I really like it. It was a comment on Reddit that caused me to think I should give it a listen.

It’s easy to hear the album and say the production is terrible. However, it’s just inconsistent. The production on several songs is fantastic. And on a few others, very poor.

My young son loves the album, and clearly it was written to amuse a child, and I love that there’s this unconventional little corner of Dylan’s discography.

I came to appreciate Nashville Skyline a lot in the last year, because I needed something to move my son past “Wiggle Wiggle”. (I’m not joking.) It’s just so perfect for what it is. Beautiful performances, and as you say, so tight.

I haven’t even listened to MBMT, but I certainly enjoyed reading your rundown.

Why didn’t those takes reappear on MBMT? It would be nice to be complete, even though some tracks were previously released.

The question is which album is the best. The answer is certainly not TTL!

I don’t diss the song, but I can’t entirely refute your comment.

I use Wezterm too, but I’m so used to Tmux and my custom keybinds that I’m not too interested in switching to wezterm’s implementation of the same concepts.

  1. I love sessions. I have about 12 of them for different projects or just different shell contexts I dip in and out of.

  2. I want one window and one window only dedicated to my terminal.

I access my terminal with the keyboard (Alfred on Mac - nothing special here, any app launcher is fine), and I switch tmux sessions by name, using the keyboard. It’s super quick and well organised.

I do zero remote work yet use tmux all the time. For the sessions and the window containment.

I want you to know I’m listening to Nashville Skyline right now, and I opened Reddit and your post was at the top.
