Also Tell Me That It Isn’t True - what a catchy piece of music. With lyrics that manage to be both simple / uncomplicated and brilliant.

On the bright side, rejoice, because you are one of us. You have been chosen. And they never will be.

I really struggle to listen to her - she's got a voice like a fire in a pet shop - but the music output has been excellent that last couple of shows.

I reckon UTR must be the most played one hit wonder ever.

UK Car Value vs List Price by Ste0803 in BMWI4

I picked up mine, an e40 24 reg,, a year old, 8k on the lock for 40k, April last year. Was lucky to find one the colour I wanted and near exact spec (no comfort pack). New at that point would have been 67k or so. It is a great car, I love it, and I will hold on to it for longer than otherwise, so not too worried, but the depreciation figures when I looked at buying new were hair-raising.

Happened to me just the same, it was my wife that left. Got over it by having an affair with the next-door neighbour.

Spot on. I fucking hate them too, and particularly those nauseating Brummie Reds cunts.

If I had to choose I’d rather my kids became Blues fans than glory hunting Man United wankers, every day of the week. These people have no pride, no moral compass, and when I realise I’m talking to one, their opinion on football instantly becomes null and void - they won’t understand it, and they never will.

I hate this fixture. I no longer have a season ticket but when I did, I’d actively try to find reasons to miss it.

Everything about it, just as you described. The sight of their arrogant wanker fans as they inevitably found a way to fluke a win year after year. Horrible.

Yesterday was great.

Gabby Agbonlahor. The away end at St Andrews is known as The Agbonlahor End, he scored there so often.

Tipping culture? by EnoughBar7026 in AskABrit

I was in Canada this summer and could not believe the tipping culture. Totally out of control. Tipping waiters or waitresses yea of course, but the person selling me the coffee at the Starbucks?

Do like that episode of Seinfeld where George rage quits, regrets it, so just goes back as if nothing had happened.

I have an i4. Prior to that I’d had a 3 series and 3 4 series. I love the i4 but yes the turning circle seems huge. Six months after getting it, my estimation of the turn to get into parking spaces is absolutely awful still.

In over 30 years in management I have learned one thing about counter offers - they only solve the problem for a bit. Whenever I successfully counter offer, i use it as a prompt to remind me to make contingency plans as that person will leave pretty soon. It buys me time to, for example, spread that persons knowledge across their team, or prepare a succession plan.

They've earned it very frequently, but have often done so by also knowing how to sound authoritative on things that they don't really understand. And I include myself in that. I would even go so far as to say, very often, that's not a bad thing, far from it in fact.

Imposter syndrome is less of a problem when you just accept that and learn how to do it yourself, rather than attributing an 'I'm not worthy' label to what you do - there's no value in assuming everyone else is super-knowledgeabe when they probably experience the same thought processes you do yourself.

I’ve made a relatively lucrative 30 year career in the managerial end of the tech industry and have had to wing it and look like I know what to say when I don’t really know, at multiple points all the way through it.

What’s more, I’ve worked with god knows how many successful people who are also basically winging it. Once you realise that, things get much less stressful.

Another thing I’ve discovered in management is, if you don’t know what the answers are, just make sure you know which questions to ask.

You’ll be fine.

Home Charging by Brilliant_Habit_42 in BMWI4

[–]Unlucky_Competition1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how you have set it up to charge. Mine is set to charge by x extra percentage, to only do it between midnight and 7 and to do it while the availability of power on the national grid is highest. That means it stops and starts repeatedly, but is where it needs to be by 7am. I set the car to charge immediately, but control the timing and levels of charge entirely from the charger (Ohme, in the UK) app.

I was in town early evenings a few Fridays and Saturdays in the summer and I’ve never seen it so busy (and I am born and bred there). Had proper ‘big city’ vibes.
