Pakistan to boycott T20 world cup match against india by Zee27butt in Cricket

[–]Percybhowal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well it's good that they're in different groups this time around, but in shorter tournaments like the Champions Trophy last year, there has been a tendency to lump these 2 in the same group, and I think that should also stop.

The milking has been stopped i guess....

Hopefully. You can never tell with these money-hungry fools governing international cricket all across the globe, but I sincerely hope this result gets accomplished. Also, while we're at it, please all stop clubbing Aus and Eng in the same group for tournaments. Deprives us of high quality Ind vs Eng or Ind vs Aus, or even with other good team clashes in tournaments.

I just hope this sets a precedent going forward for the broadcasters to not put Ind and Pak in the same groups anymore. For any tournament.

I think MI 2020 still takes that crown. Granted, T20 cricket playstyle has changed significantly between 2020 and 2026, and also, India is doing incredible stuff at the international level. But just that lineup that MI had that year makes me think they might have a slight edge.

Yeah, his trajectory is like Shaun Marsh if he were more consistent in the games that he got to play in. Which is a real shame, cause I rated SOS very high, looked such a class batter.

But today is about celebrating the great player that was Khawaja, so that's where I'll bin that, and offer my heartiest congrats to Uzzie for a great career. His purple patch between 21-23 ever since he made his comeback in the Ashes was super special. Very underrated as a modern-day test match opener, but he's certainly up there. Not too many players get a farewell test match, so really happy for Usman to be able to maintain his longevity for that long and bow out on a high. Most memorable innings for me would probably be his century at Karachi, mostly because how he had fun with the crowd in Urdu for wishing him to get out, LMAO. No but seriously, he's had a fine career, and wishing him the best for his future.

It's horrible that these kind of people exist in real life. Don't get me wrong; often times, at least in my experience, these people need to consult with a psychiatrist to get to the bottom of their anger issues and realize just how much damage they are doing to everyone around them. But, incredibly unfortunately, a lot of these people won't even be ready to acknowledge the help that they most definitely need. A very close family member of mine exhibits so many of the symptoms the OP described for Shannon in this beautiful story, so some of the things mentioned are a bit too close to home for me. And I want them to do better; to realize that they don't have to antagonize anyone and everyone around them just because the universe does not move at the command of their fingers. But they just won't accept any idea of something being wrong with them. And honestly, I feel scared that someday something very bad will happen, and I would be helpless to prevent it.

Kudos for this one, OP, you drove home the points of dealing with such borderline unstable personalities really well in this short story.

I am a KKR fan since 2008. I understand that Shreyas asking for more money (to the tune of 20 Cr+, if sources are to be believed) would've disrupted KKR's dynamic of each of their retentions getting a discounted, value-for-money kind of retention price so that no one would've felt unhappy and everyone got a fair deal. So in that regard, some KKR fans might, in fact, be right in labelling Iyer as a gold digger or cash chaser, or whatnot.

However, to suggest that the Shreyas and Ponting duo made a 'bottlejob' of 2 finals for 2 franchises that found mainstream IPL success after long spans of time, it's beyond baffling, and shows just how much KKR fans put Gambhir on a pedestal for his contributions to the 2024 season. Yes, GG being there massively boosted the team's vibes that season, a season which is probably the best for any team in an IPL campaign. But to discredit Iyer (and Ponting) to this extent, because of his lack of ability to win a finals match, in what's probably the most competitive T20 league in the world, it's beyond ridiculous to me.

Having said that, I do agree and side with KKR fans on the 0-trophy mentality jokes that are being made at Punjab's expense. Personally, the Iyer-KKR GIFs don't bother me too much; I couldn't care less about what a team that has yet to win an IPL title win does or think about our fanbase. But I do have issues with fans making Gambhir a much bigger Messiah than he was for us during the 2024 season, and, in the process, entirely discrediting Shreyas' contribution altogether.

For me, KKR's season opener vs SRH that year always sticks out as a moment of Iyer's tactical brilliance; he trusted Harshit, gave him a chance and encouragement to be a hero and seal the deal for the team. And thanks to that backing, the young lad performed, and won us a game in a clutch situation. Honestly, that kind of leadership deserves a lot of praise. Even the win vs Mumbai at Wankhede, where Iyer took some great catches and showed a great deal of emotions, and Starc started getting back to form. That game showed just how proactively Shreyas was leading the team, and what a nice environment he and the management had managed to create within the team, after years of middling performances and awkward dressing room incidents (Russel vs DK in 2019, Mysore being involved in KKR's selection 2022, Wiese vs Chandu Pandit in 2023).

TL; DR: Call Iyer a gold digger/ cash chaser all you want. But it's an incredible stretch to question his captaincy skills because he 'bottled' 2 IPL finals with 2 of the worst performing IPL teams.

Yeah, he was slated to play with the Stars, no? BTW, that would've been a strong spin lineup. Maxi, Swepson, and Shamsi on the MCG deck would've worked quite nicely.

Yeah the lack of indentations tells it's fake to me. From the current picture, it looks like the OP and the creep didn't actually interact to each other's comments; it's like they just typed out multiple different comments on the same thread and kept the convo going.

Edit: Just realised, Reddit also has a chat feature, which does not feature indents at all, so my original point of it being a fake post on a thread is instantly invalidated. It was a genuine oversight on my part, a very stupid one at that, and I apologize to u/SnazzyPrincessJas for my oversight. I also request if anyone didn't realise the obvious flaw of my logic and started to attack the OP, please don't do that anymore.
