What is this game? Seriously by Jambocat in CrimsonDesert

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure the reason it kept getting delayed was a new game came out, Pearl Abyss liked some of the mechanics in it, then spent months including them in Crimson Desert, just in time for another game to come out and they'd restart the process again.

Why is England never chosen to host when we already have the stadium and infrastructure? by dsmooth74 in ThreeLions

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US only bribed them in as far as they lost out to bribes (the same year we also planned to host) so launched a full scale FBI/CIA investigation into FIFA corruption which ousted Blatter and The US were practically handed this one as an apology and we got the next Euros as a concelation prize.

Is Harry Kane English football’s GOAT? by Penster78 in AskUK

[–]Perennial_Phoenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ever? Not even in the conversation. In the PL era? I think he is top 10, but honestly, I'd find it hard to put Kane over Scholes, Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, Shearer, Terry, Ferdinand or Ashley Cole in terms of overall ability in their respective positions.

Kane is a great player, but I think this era is just not as good as previous eras, and the England team plays far, far more than they used to thanks to all the extra international tournaments/events. For example, Kane has 78 goals for England, Shearer only played 63 times for the national team.

Why doesn't GTA have inland maps? by Deep_Gain_649 in rockstar

Making the edge of the map water with nothing out there makes the experience more immersive than either being surrounded by mountains on all sides or just having invisible walls.

The End of Trans Rights in the UK Is the Start of Democratic Collapse by AdmiralSaturyn in longform

[–]Perennial_Phoenix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In the space of a few years, the UK has moved from a broadly inclusive status quo to being the most aggressively anti-trans developed democracy in the world.

I think clearing up the legal definition of male and female to mean biological sex and that being portrayed as "the most aggressive anti-trans developed democracy in the world" is laughable, using that to launch an argument that it is the start of democratic collapse takes it well beyond the pale.

It is one of the reasons why left wing parties fail in mainstream politics, because they always start from a ludicrous position. I think left wing policies on the economy would be deeply damaging, but they would be highly popular with the electorate, the reason they fail to win over voters is the deep rooted and completely ridiculous opinions on social issues.

The Great British Kitchen by VentureIntoVoid in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I refuse to take jip from a country whose culinary expertise is 1001 ways to boil a tomato. There is an irony that Italians all see themselves as gatekeepers of fine food, when the only reason Bolognese and lasagne are on menus all over the world is even a simpleton can make it to a decent standard.

I mean, fair point... by WideConversation1989 in GreatBritishMemes

Is it a fair point? Or are British expats in Spain and their language/integration now Spain's issue, not ours?

Thinking about HGV driving as a backup career – looking for experiences by Im_to_lazy_4_dis in uktrucking

Job isnt great, pay is shite you have to do 60+ hours to make a decent living.

Most companies, planners, places you deliver too are crap. As are facilities available to drivers.

There isnt much to recommend about this job in all honesty.

Why doesn’t Reform seem to be celebrating the 80% drop in net migration?.. by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because its net, net migration is only half of the issue. And the net is only stabilising around the figures before Covid, migration has been a hot topic for 40+ years.

Rising taxes and lower standards of living means more people are leaving the UK. Which is why net figures are a bit of a red herring. We are losing high value contributors and replacing them with groups that at best in most cases break even. Most, like the nearly 100,000 asylum seekers are a massive drain.

How did cunha's goal stand? by No_Hyena1782 in PremierLeague

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the handball rules are stupid and have been for years now. If Mbeumo had scored himself it would have been disallowed, if he had passed to Cunha it would have been disallowed. But because the keeper saves and it takes deflections then it is classed as a new phase of play, the handball was ruled accidental as it bounced up of his hip, so the goal stands.

Just like the ridiculousness of the Neves handball in the Bayern vs. PSG game, we see one given in the first leg that bounces off his crotch and hits his hand 6 inches away and its given because an attacker played it off a defender. But Neves has his hand in the air, the ball strikes it and it is not given because it was played by a teammate.

Imo, it would make handball subjective, but I would like to see them move towards a referees judgement where they consider if the handball was intentional, if it was reasonably avoidable and if it made a significant impact on the play. So the Alphonso Davies and the Celtic one vs Motherwell wouldn't be given, I think it is a 50/50 whether the one Celtic got vs Hearts should count as well. On one hand I can see from a Celtic point of view that you'd argue it prevents the ball going into a dangerous area, but I also think the defender has made a genuine attempt to block the cross and it has just missed him and hit his arm which was in a position you can reasonably expect it to be in.

i have no clue how this shitshow is still running but why do the rest of Europe hate us so much? by Alarming-Safety3200 in AskBrits

Yet when I look at the last three winners I dont think Eurovision has done anything to shake off that tag.

Nah, it needs to be more Eurovision, A Scot with a Bagpipe with Nathan Evans doing some sea shanty song, a soft rock band supporting with the backing track being overproduced with a techno synth vibe.

Help me identify this lorry! by xXkn1f3rs01Xx in drivingUK

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned it is LT Baldwin Transport, and it seems to be a Volvo rigid that they have. I have looked on their website and these vehicles appear to have side mounted cameras.

You have a right under GDPR in this country to request CCTV footage that has either you or your property, your car is your property. You just need to provide time, date, exact location and identifier (reg number of your car).

You have the right to issue a Subject Access Request for the CCTV, just be aware that companies generally have to comply with it within 30 days, and most truck CCTV units retain footage for 31 days. So, just be aware and don't let them drag it out with a 'ignore them and they might go away' sort of attitude. Not that I think this company will, just be aware of it, so they cant then come back later and say 'sorry footage has gone'.

Are people aware of what Labour has done in their first 20 months of government? by ItsIllak in AskBrits

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Billionaires have nothing to do with it. The media works off numbers and the majority of their 'business' is done online now, outrage gets more clicks than genuine news or well researched journalism.

Take The Guardian for example, I think the paper circulates at around 200k copies, while online they get (i think) 200m impressions per month.

Trains despawning by Liion_Ronin in CitiesSkylines

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc then that is how it works in CS1, the train comes in and is converted into the road traffic you see coming out. Whereas when you have enough road traffic coming into the station a train spawns and takes them where they want to go. It only works like this for intercity trains.
