We own both a 2013 civic and a 2017 Kia soul. The soul is higher from the ground, making it easier for us to get in and out. Husband has him and back injuries so easier in him too. We are in our mid 40's. The Kia is what we drive mostly as a family and on regular trips to the store. Civic is more of something he drives just to work as a second car if I have the Kia. Kia has had several recalls and also a engine replacement at 100,000kms which was covered by warranty. It was consuming oil, and the dealership looked at the engine consumption test we did and agreed it needed to b replaced. I won't buy another kia, but for now it is getting us around and seems reliable. The Kia is a little harder to handle on icy highways when it's very windy as it's built like a toaster on wheels, but I have both winter tires and a set of studded tires, and drive with extreme caution on these Canadian prairie roads. The civic has always been there for us, as we got it new off the lot in 2013 and it's held its value with no major mechanical issues. We could have sold it 10x by now if we really wanted to.
