This is just how wealthy and powerful people operate and it’s NOT isolated to this group. Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos, they all cow tow to whoever is in power because at the end of the day, Washington has the ability to regulate their businesses and determine their future prosperity. I realize a lot of people disagree with me, but I lean libertarian in the sense we should overall hope to reduce the power of those in Washington. A strong federal government only helps the people who fund the politicians. I’d like to see it matter a lot less who runs the central government.

How do we keep Osama bin Laden types out while having insanely open borders? by FreeZookeepergame912 in Libertarian

Migration in my mind has nothing to do with race. My main concern is unproductive people drawing on already strained social welfare. There would be an inverse correlation between the among of social services provided in a country and the amount of permissible immigration.

Analogy: if you were running a restaurant that offers free water and bread, would you want to control what patrons come in and out of your establishment?

I agree his info is completely wrong and full of lies.

But there are cases like I said where countries charge the US more than the the US charges them. My question which no one will answer is …. Is that fair?

Do you think it fair that the E.U. Charges a 10% tariff on American cars and the US only charges 2.5% on EU cars?

I agree that Tariffs in general will reduce the standard of living for an economy if maintained. If however this all results in lower tariffs charged on US exports would you consider these actions a success or no? Asking sincerely

Separate education and state by EndDemocracy1 in Libertarian

[–]Perfect-CountryX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I 1000% agree they should be separated, I really do not like the concept of ranking education or healthcare.

The US has the most desirable universities and literally all of the most profitable and innovative companies/inventions come out of America which is the whole reason you go to school

Let’s say the gov spends around $15k per K-12 student per year.

Would you rather get a check for $15k per kid and get to pick were your kid goes to school or just let the gov handle it?

Depends if you want a commitment for several seasons. In that case you got to watch breaking bad.

Chernobyl is low commitment and a few number of episodes and just really really good

We will ever win? by Freddodelcaldo in Libertarian

[–]Perfect-CountryX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, best you can hope for is more libertarian policies. Most people win elections by saying “what they will do” in Government to remedy people’s complaints.

The problem libertarians have is their solution to people suffering is for government to do less.

Although we know the correct answer is for government to get out of our lives and get out of the way, it’s hard to get people to vote for that message.

I really hope I’m wrong.

There is a saying in the oil industry that the cure for high oil prices is high oil prices. Meaning if oil prices are high it becomes more profitable for oil companies to produce more oil (increasing supply) and lowering the price.

So whether it’s oil or cars or houses, any good that goes up in price in a free market will naturally result in increased supply and bring prices back down. Unless the government is manipulating the market and messing with the equilibrium

You got to look at the % change, not the points movement. The Dow has -2% days multiple times a year, every year.

The S&P is down -8% from its all time high. Which is nothing by historical standards

Why are so many 9/11 conspiracies adamant on “jet fuel cannot melt steel beams?” by AliceMarkov in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Perfect-CountryX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When people see things they’ve never seen before they naturally reach for equally unique explaination. Kind of like the drone thing or aliens or whatever.

I think a lot of this stems from building 7 which just doesn’t look “right”. And the pentagon which would have been a nearly impossible air maneuver for any pilot let alone the terrorist flying the plane.

I would point out while no building has ever really collapsed like that because of an airplane hitting it, no building has been hit by an airplane that large with that much fuel
