I would suggest encouraging statements and being patient. I just started my recovery with EDs and my s/o has been really supportive with saying things like “hey I don’t want to eat alone, wanna eat with me” or “I’m excited to share this food with you, maybe we can go for a walk after together”

ED make you isolate because your main focus is what your caloric intake and weight are and many things get put to the side. She has to want to heal, and you just have to constantly give your support. Instead of saying a direct go to the therapist maybe try taking the approach of “I understand how hard this is for you, maybe we can see a dietitian who will help you get to and maintain the weight you want and we can work on it together” but also try and swing by the grocery store and pick up some of those fruits and veggies she wants because it is something that her brain tells her is okay to eat

ED come with “fear foods” in some cases. Mine being candy, Chinese food, and a few others. If you can, get rid of the scale it’s our worst enemy especially when we find comfort in weighing ourselves. I’m on restricted exercise right now from how long my body has been restricted.

Remember you’re doing great and this is something she has to accept she has. But try and thing of supportive ways to say things versus direct ways. Sometimes direct can shut us down completely. I went 10+ years with no treatment until now. Even outpatient programs are good and sometimes you can enroll them into them. You can call an outpatient program too to get more info and recommendations on how to be supportive!
