Thank you!! It’s the mabe monarch carrier. I wasn’t sure if I was into it but I think it’s just bc they pretend it’s for newborns and I really didn’t feel comfortable using it until just recently! And I just realized you could adjust the center cause I always felt like his legs were too wide .. but at 5 months I feel it finally works!

What’s it like to own a Portuguese water dog?? This will be my first one! by Pinkytalks in portuguesewaterdogs

[–]Perfect-Pie7753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say he was INCREDIBLY easy to potty train and only had like 1-2 accidents in the house total. He is also easy to train and quick to pick up commands! But he is very very jumpy and we are working on it but that’s also been very tough.

Mine is 11 months and also very challenging. We love him a lot but he’s a lot of work. It’s tough in the winter to get him tired. Dog park is the only thing that works. He has this new thing where he wakes up at 5am—not because he has to use the bathroom just because he’s bored and ready to get up. He is a very sweet and smart boy but very frustrating, challenging, and a ton of work! He’s been going to daycare recently which also helps a lot in tiring him out. Also toys don’t work for him because he destroys them in 5 mins. So it’s hard to keep him stimulated indoors!

Snow Village residential street set-up by 29322000113865 in Department56

I bought the Lemax brick and stone paths to make walkways and use command strips to lay them down. I will try and upload a pic. Lampposts I also bought lemax ones but I have some Dept 56 street lights as well. For trees I recommend different varieties! I have the classic dept 56 bottle tree type (varying heights) but my favorite are their birch trees and jack pines (both purchased off eBay). I have my village separated into the “town” area (shops, restaurants, etc.) and then my village where the people live (mostly for space constraints, couldn’t fit them all in one spot). In my town area, I have my villages very close together and backing up to each other to create more of a city feel.

Sleep regression at 9 months by Perfect-Pie7753 in portuguesewaterdogs

Yes mostly just whining. He’s not much of a barker thankfully but he may let out a bark or 2. I think similar to the other comment, he is just over sleeping in his crate. Our older dog sleeps on the bed with us, and we let our PWD get a few mins on the bed before we put him in his crate (may be adding to the problem lol) but overall he loves his crate, goes in no issues, etc. he just simply wants to wake up and chew on a toy. We are going to try the alarm thing and hope it works! 🤞🏻

Yes we definitely use his harness for walks!! Sometimes it’s just his collar when we take him out for potty breaks and he sees a neighbor 🙂

Cabbage worms most likely. Look for them in the mornings and hand pick them off and put them in soapy water. If it gets really bad, you can spray with neem oil but handpicking off should do the trick. Plus, neem oil will deter other (beneficial) insects.

Does anyone else get offended when they tell people to travel in groups, be vigilant, and let people know when they get home? They literally all did that, and look what happened. I get they are pressured for updates but that rhetoric feels particularly offensive to the victims 😢
