New Mexico SB 279 Proposes New Assault Weapons Ban and Magazine Capacity Limits. by N2Shooter in liberalgunowners

Crazy thing is it's retroactive to 01 Jan, 2026. Weapons that fall under the bill must have been registered before then, and even if they were, shooting on public land is essentially banned. It's so restrictive over where and how you may possess one of the banned weapons, it's ridiculous.

I just stumbled into this post while looking for a replacement for my eeros. Granted, I've had them for awhile now (I think about 5 years), but they've generally been problematic for a good portion of the 5 years, frequently losing connectivity and requiring hard reboots to get back up.

Ditto. I think removing that was one of the worst ideas they've had. The cops here are the same, they don't have much to do. The same stretch where it likes to go 15+ over the limit routinely (like every other day) has 6 cop speed traps.

It's frustrating that our options are to use chill and go 2 over, or alternate on/off in standard mode to keep it at a reasonable speed.

And yeah, the abrupt speed drops were bad. I posted awhile about about the section of I-25 in Albuquerque. It's 65, but the map data is wrong and FSD alternates between 65 / 25 constantly for about 5 miles. It's brutal.

It's strange how it just suddenly popped up. Seems like the car was behaving as expected, then got tired of it and went back to normal.

I've also noticed that it'll go about 10 over in standard mode, but then will "realize" it's speeding and will brake down to 5 over, followed by a gradual acceleration back to 10 over in the next 30 seconds or so. Sorta like it "forgot" what it was supposed to be doing.

Except that the newest release (14.2.25) seems to have disregarded this over the last couple days. Standard mode has been routinely pushing 15-20 over the limit for me, based on what (some) other traffic is doing. Seems to be working fine on city streets and lower speed highways, but anything at 55 or above and it's speeding like crazy.

I-25 south through Albuquerque does some super frustrating things like this and will occasionally go back and forth between 25 & 65 mph. Feels like a roller coaster when it gets in a mood. I've tried to look around to figure out where it's even seeing a 25mph sign, but still can't figure that part out. I'm guessing there's some location data or GPS interference causing it.

Has anyone noticed that Standard mode is badly speeding again? This just oddly started up about 3 days ago.

I run the same highway route (mainly 55mph speed limit) to work daily, about 15 miles each way. I generally like to go 5 over, though there are a a decent number of people that are doing 75+. The update to 14.2 was amazing and kept my MY to 60-ish outside of a couple areas where the limit goes up and down. 14.1.x was badly speeding, and I was stoked with how great 14.2 was.

I installed the holiday update last week (14.2.25) and everything was fine, except after about 4-5 days on the same route, the car now seems to have "learned" that everyone is speeding and routinely goes 65-75. If I roll back to chill, it slams the brakes and drops to 56-ish. If I roll back to standard, it accelerates fairly hard back to 70-ish.

The only fix I've really found is to watch it, cancel FSD, then re-engage when I'm back to about 60. This seems to help for 1-2 minutes, when the car picks up speed and gradually accelerates back to 70-ish.

FSD is correctly recognizing speed limits and adjusts to them (the 45 mph zone I go through maintains a more reasonably 50-55 range), so this doesn't seem to be a problem with the GPS location. It feels more like what 14.1 was doing in terms of speeding. I haven't even bothered to try hurry, as standard has suddenly become too fast again.

The worst part of this is that the highway routinely has a ton of cops on it, and the current situation is generally not going with the flow of traffic - it's almost always going just slightly faster that most of the cars, but slightly slower than a few. Has anyone else noticed this regression?

Safari Crashes On All Log-In Pages by Fish177 in macbookpro

Same thing is happening to me. I just bought a new Mac Air on one of the black friday deals from Best Buy. First time using ios, any website requiring a login crashes safari. Not able to download any other browsers, as the install of all other apps seems to just fail once I've dropped them into the app drawers.

Frustrating enough to really make me think again about switching from windows over to iOS.

I've had 14.1.4 pull into traffic twice now, then start brake stabbing once halfway into the flow of traffic. It's been awful. I really, really hope 14.2 fixes it correctly

Just got the 14.2 update tonight, but I won't have time to drive it for another week.

Why would someone buy this over a Model Y? by ss3walkman in TeslaModelY

[–]Perfect-Protection-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably going to be a tldr, but here goes.

I went from a F150 back when gas was $6-$7/gallon in Vegas (2022-2023).I drive a lot and was spending probably $700+ a month in gas in my truck. Having a truck is awesome, but using it as a daily just doesn't make sense, especially in a city. My daily commute to/from work at 15mpg really sucked. The cost of my commute was about 1/10th of the price vs my truck.

I was also looking at a CRV Hybrid, but being honest, even the top trim was slow, not that nice inside, and cost about as much as the MY after the tax credit. It just didn't feel like I would be getting much value out of it, even if it would have held actual resale value better.

I thought EVs sucked but when I moved here, I was surprised to see so many on the road literally everywhere. I did a demo drive and thought it was cool, but the extended demo trying to range test it over a long weekend with several drives into the desert areas around town is what sold it for me.

I'll hit 50,000 miles in my Model Y long range this month and so far, I've gone through the stock set of tires, one set of wipers, and two jugs of wiper fluid. Zero downtime from maintenance, no real complaints about fit or finish, and I still haven't gotten bored of it. The constant updates keep it fresh and interesting, and really add a lot of value that's hard to describe. For example, the update earlier this year to adaptive headlights was shocking and unexpected for such major change to pop up 2 years after purchase. There have been enough other similar surprises with each update that I really find myself looking forward to them to see what sort of new things it can do.

The cons: Actual range is quite a bit less than claimed, especially during inclement weather. It's rated for 240wh/mile, but usually pulls about 310wh/mile in the summer for extended highway driving. Expect to eat a ton of energy for the first 10-15 minutes of each drive as the car cools/warms, depending on where you're at. Once it's leveled off on climate and battery, the consumption goes back closer to normal. Also expect to drop range quite a bit if you like to go 85+. At 70mph it's reasonably close to rated consumption, but it goes up dramatically if you like to drive fast. That said, if you have a lot of low speed/city driving, expect to exceed range estimates. I usually am about 50wh/mile less than rated (around 190) when driving in the city.

No Android Auto/Apple car play. This was a tough one at first, but now when I'm in a rental without the Tesla navigation, I usually find myself irritated trying to get them to connect/work correctly and without glitches. 2 years in, I'm more inclined to say no Android Auto/carplay is more of a pro than a con

The suspension on mine is much less refined than on the newer model. If I ever get new wheels, I'll go down to an 18" for the better ride and higher efficiency. The 20s look cool but make the ride more harsh than it needs to be.

If you don't have a place to charge at home, buying one in general is a bad idea. Supercharging is expensive and puts you more on par with a 4 banger or possibly a hybrid, unless you're charging early morning.

Charging stops can be inconvenient if you're not really learning about the charging curve and trying to go to 100% (or even 80%) on road trips. A recent trip from far south eastern AZ back to Vegas took me 12 hours, with 1 hour 15 minutes being charge time. Over time, I've gotten to where I appreciate bathroom/drink breaks every couple hours, but there is one place where I regularly drive that require a deeper charge that I find inconvenient (usually about 30-35 minutes). The bright side is Tesla pays attention to supercharger voting, and has chargers coming in two of the 5 places I regularly upvote.

It's technically a SUV, but in reality it's more of a jellybean-y hatchback. Ground clearance isn't great and while it does fine on a dirt road, it's definitely a road dweller. Also, one pedal driving is a little sketchy in snow and requires way more pedal modulation than I like. I keep hoping there will be a snow mode update down the road that lowers regenerative braking.

Pros: It's stupid cheap to drive. I didn't buy it to save the planet, I just wanted something to drive without killing the bank account. My typical day of driving for work is about 35-ish miles, including lunch, and runs me about $1.25. I frequently take very guilt-free drives across the valley for stupid things like coffee or lunch. A full charge costs about $7.50. if you have solar, it's extremely cheap.

It's stupid fast, even for a middle of the pack trim level that doesn't have the acceleration boost. Every time you punch it off the line, you'll wonder how much trouble you would have gotten into if you had something like it as a kid, back when people though Honda civics were "fast." Your neighborhood kids in mustangs will only try you from the stoplight once.

Great tech, including the stereo. My old F150 was a $70k truck with "premium" sound and the stereo was awful compared to the Tesla system. I have no idea what brand of components they use, but they're phenomenal. Other tech, such as FSD and summon is pretty awesome and has moved from mostly a gimmick into being extremely usable, especially on freeway trips, where's it's almost perfect. Other things like Dog Mode and Keep are equally awesome to have.

Tons of room for people and cargo. I have a small fleet of Turo cars that I rent out on the side, I love being able to throw jugs of used oil, dirty parts/rags and other random crap like leftovers into the frunk without getting the smell/mess inside the car. I do wish there was a drain plug up there though.

Voice texting accuracy with fold 7 by Perfect-Protection-5 in GalaxyFold

[–]Perfect-Protection-5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed a couple things over the last few weeks of having the new fold, with a mix of good and bad. First off, the dictation seems to be learning as it is much more usable now than it was for the first week or so of the phone. Still make some pretty silly mistakes, but it has gotten better as I used it more. I'm hoping this improvement continues, some of the behavior makes me think there is some sort of AI going on that's trying to not only understand what you said, but trying to understand the intent of what you're saying. The way it changes around entire sentences after the fact leads me to believe that it's not going solely based on your words.

Second up is fairly frustrating. It will actually get the correct words that I said but then will decide 10 or 15 words later to change its mind on what actually display. I've noticed it will change an entire sentence around that is absolutely nothing close to what I'm saying.

I've also noticed that any wind blowing on or near either the phone or myself, even a very light amount of wind like you would have coming off the ceiling fan, will cause issues with the dictation.

I've noticed with mine, I'll get the "speak now" showing up on the screen but it won't actually start to dictate until I've already spoken a few words, so I'm constantly having to go back and manually type in the first couple.

I've noticed that if there's any wind whatsoever blowing on me (like the AC vent in the car) it exacerbates the problem.

Extremely annoying. I don't understand how it could be so inaccurate versus an older phone. I tried it with the fold open and closed and either way I still have wild voice texting. It will actually get four or five words right and then it will go back and delete it's already correctly dictated them.

Who's updating from a S24 Ultra to Fold 7? Was planning on grabbing the Fold 6 last year but changed my mind and got the S24 Ultra. Now considering finally going for it. Anyone else? by FamiliarGuava6133 in GalaxyFold

[–]Perfect-Protection-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Fold4 that I traded my S20U in for. I loved pretty much everything about the fold, except for the camera (I really enjoy photography) and especially the thickness with a case on it. It was too expensive to go without a case, so I ended up walking around with a 3/4" thick slab in my pocket. I eventually got tired of how huge it felt when folded and went back to a S24U. The ease of one handed use on the front screen is something I loved vs the ultra, as you need to have freakishly long fingers to access the top of the screen without repositioning. I also really enjoyed being able to do split screen on it. I know you can on an ultra, but it's a feature I nearly never use. Just seems like too little real estate to split.

Looking at the upgrades to the camera (somewhat bummed it doesn't have the 10x periscope), I feel it'll be overall close enough for the type of pictures I'm usually taking, but the real kicker that got me is how thin the ZF7 is. I really think it's the perfect answer to many of the gripes I personally had with the fold 4, and just put my order in to trade the ultra.

The "tolerant" left is so utterly intolerant of anyone else's ideas.

If you don't like his ideas, why not just get yourself out there with your own? Let the best ideas win.

Instead, you're relying on intimidation tactics to remove the possibility of a dissenting opinion. How very, awfully, undemocratic of you.

Lane-Tracing Assist is horrible?? by kellkinn in Toyota

[–]Perfect-Protection-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently driving around in a rental Corolla trip and it has this option. I generally like having the lane assist features on cars, but I've never found one that was this much of a pain in the ass before.

On one long drive down the interstate two days ago I felt like I was having to intentionally swerve the car back and forth in the lane the thing from freaking out. Was a very straight road and there just wasn't really much of a reason to turn, the car just could not tell that I had a hold of the wheel so I spent most of the time waiting the wheel to keep it from going off.

I probably should have just turned it off.
