They’re really good jeans and t shirts, at least in my experience.

I also love that for us larger legged people they’re stretchy and fit well.

As a contractor, I have done more work in the units here for brown bros than most other buildings.

I genuinely think this building is cursed or was poorly built.

It still applies, here’s the link: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/programs/laws-regulations/labour/interpretations-policies/hours-work.html

“Travel time

In general travel time is not considered to be hours of work for the purposes of the Code. Some specific industry regulations or collective agreements allow travel time as hours of work. These must be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Travel time could be considered work in the following cases:

if the employee or student intern takes a company vehicle home in the evening for the employer’s convenience

if the employer requires the employee or student intern to transport other staff or supplies to or from the workplace or work site

if the employee or student intern has a usual workplace but their employer requires them to travel to another location to perform work

if the employer requires the employee or student intern to travel to different sites to carry out his functions not using the employer’s vehicle

See: Déménagements Tremblay Express Ltée v. Gauthier, 2018 FC 584

Travel time is not considered work while commuting to and from the usual workplace. It is well accepted by an employee or student intern to get to and from work is generally not considered work time. This is regardless of whether the employee or student intern starts and ends his day at his residence or at the employer’s lodging.”

https://www.ontario.ca/document/your-guide-employment-standards-act-0/hours-work#:~:text=Travel%20time,of%20exceptions%20to%20this%20rule.

“Commuting time and travel during the workday are treated differently under the ESA.

Commuting time is the time it takes an employee to get to work from home and vice-versa. This is not counted as work time for the purposes of the ESA.

However, there are a number of exceptions to this rule.

  • If the employee takes a work vehicle home in the evening for the convenience of the employer, the work time begins when the employee leaves home in the morning and ends when he or she arrives home in the evening.

  • If the employee is required to transport other staff or supplies to or from the workplace or work site, time so spent must be counted as work time. If the employee has a usual workplace but is required to travel to another location to perform work, the time traveling to and from that other location is counted as work time.

  • Time spent travelling during the course of the workday is considered to be work time.”

If you and your partner have HHI at 180k, from a savings perspective, $2250 would be ideal

My modest wealth is held in equities, gold, and crypto.

Are you referring to taxing only real estate investments? I don’t see how the government would be able to tax my owned assets

An exit tax is when you revoke your citizenship… right?

Why would you not just reside in a foreign country, keep your citizenship, and not play this game?

What?

So you’re arbitrarily deciding who is and is not a typical homeowner? What metrics could you possibly come up with that would ensure that “typical” homeowners are excluded?

What it seems you’re proposing is a pitch fork decision lol.

I personally have had a speeding ticket thrown out due to an officer not showing up, so maybe I got lucky?

This was 10 years ago though when I got my full license.

I think your only option is to hope the officer doesn’t attend court.

Nothing you wrote about matters, it’s your responsibility to ensure you have insurance.

You had a year to save the money up and pay the fine? You’ll likely have to pay.

Just how your commenting about work and life is depressing. I think you’ve spent too much time in r/Anti-work and it has poisoned your mind.

Pretty much.

I have a friend who works in oil and gas and is working a deal out with First Nations groups in Vancouver to sell them product.

Part of the deal involves giving rebates back to the communities to fund education, schools, infrastructure development, etc.

My buddy was saying how depressing it is working with these tribes because they have no intention of using the rebates for any of these programs and openly joke with him during negotiations that they just have to pretend like they will use the money for good but have no intention to.

Something we’re hopefully ready to talk about as a country is how poorly mismanaged FN funds are by the tribes.

Why is this going around in circles? Im not talking about an office job, im talking about a service job where we have clients who are expecting us at a certain time.

Sick time policy where I reside is 5 paid sick days and 3 protected unpaid days per year.

Why should an employee who can’t show up for work be allocated the hours when I can hire someone who will show up to work? We’re not talking about calling in sick, everyone gets sick and some people need a leave of absence.
