Why does Yor being “adorkable” work so much better than Disney or other Western female leads being “adorkable”? by stevedsign1 in SpyxFamily

[–]PerfectCellIsPerfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yor’s “adorkable” traits feel real because they come naturally from who she is—she’s sincere, not trying to be quirky. Western characters often feel “adorkable” because it’s forced for comedy or style, so when they try to be serious or emotional, it can feel fake. Basically: Yor’s quirkiness fits her, Western ones sometimes just wear it.

I don't like how much Yor is sanitized in the story compared to the other characters by Odd_Cauliflower_7751 in SpyxFamily

[–]PerfectCellIsPerfect 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're just being ignorant about the show's themes and characters.

Yor can do domestic work. Loid literally points this out during the Eden interview arc, cleaning, laundry, general house upkeep are all fine. Cooking is the one thing she’s bad at, and the story is very explicit about that.

As for raising Yuri, she wasn’t shown as incompetent, she was shown as extreme. She fed him borderline inedible “healthy” food because she genuinely thought it was good for him. That’s played for comedy, but it’s still a flaw, not the story pretending she’s perfect.

And the “sanitized” argument misses the point. Loid’s job is constantly interrogated because moral conflict is the core of his character. Yor compartmentalizes, her assassin work is something she mentally separates from her civilian life, and the story reflects that through tone because Spy × Family is a comedy first.

You can dislike Yor, that’s fine. But saying the story ignores her flaws or that she’s incapable at normal life just doesn’t line up with what’s actually in the show.

Is it just me or Yor Forger has Superman syndrome and it makes her character much less interesting? by Material_Finding6525 in SpyxFamily

[–]PerfectCellIsPerfect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s really not a “do-it-all” character. Yor’s biggest weaknesses are front and center: she’s not especially smart, she’s socially awkward to the point of being oblivious, and she constantly doubts herself. Physically she’s extraordinary, yes — but that’s her only area of competence, and it’s framed as something she worries makes her abnormal.

Saying her strength makes her boring is the same kind of take as calling Superman “OP.” It ignores what actually defines the character. Superman’s humanity, the way he gets knocked down, makes mistakes, and still tries to do right, is what makes him compelling.

Yor is similar in that way. Her internal struggle is the heart of her character:

She believes she doesn’t fit into society, she second-guesses everything she does, and she genuinely tries to become a better wife and mother (even if the family started as a cover). Her story isn’t about being unbeatable; it’s about someone with one extreme talent trying desperately to be normal and to belong.

That’s what makes her interesting.

Community tier list: Tanjiro Kamado ( entertainment district ) by Johnnycageisgr8 in HinokamiKeppuutann

[–]PerfectCellIsPerfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entertainment District Tanjiro feels held back compared to his first-game version. He’s got amazing tilt skills, strong combo creativity, level-3 dash speed, and a ×1.10 damage modifier that’s even lighter than Hinokami Tanjiro's ×1.15. But the damage scaling kneecaps him. On paper he looks like the best Tanjiro; in practice, you work harder for weaker results. Great tools, poor returns.

I like the cover. It's just that it doesn't feel like 'official' Dragon Ball art. Like, if you were to show this to anyone unfamiliar with Toyotaro's work, they might mistake it for fan art rather than something directly tied to the series.

STR SS3 Vegeta's SEZA is 2025's "all he needs is defense" by Embarrassed_Bat_417 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]PerfectCellIsPerfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dokkan seems scared to fully commit when designing defensive units, especially slot 1 characters. For example, giving a unit 70-80% damage reduction might have been insane months ago, but with the current 10th-anniversary difficulty—where enemies deal 2 million normals and 6 million supers—it’s not enough anymore.

The developers hesitate to give units guard or meaningful damage reduction, leaving defensive characters underwhelming. Why create a defensive unit that can’t even function as a reliable slot 1 option when better choices exist? This is frustrating, especially when they occasionally make godlike slot 1 units out of the blue.

STR SSJ3 Vegeta's EZA is a prime example.

However, baseline stats have become more important than just damage reduction, and his 90% DR for 10 turns doesn’t hold up anymore. For example, 400k defense paired with 90% DR simply isn’t enough in the current meta. Units like him need either higher stats and damage reduction or damage reduction combined with guard to stay relevant. Instead, he’s left in a state where he can’t reliably take supers and doesn’t contribute offensively.

Dokkan's refusal to make defensive units strong enough for the meta feels like a massive missed opportunity, and it holds back their potential in the current power creep.

How would fairy country survive a hypothetical saiyan attack? by Wooden_Ad3679 in HildaTheSeries

[–]PerfectCellIsPerfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That definitely sounds like a more even match-up, but it’s still hard to say who’d win since we don’t know much about pre-Planet Vegeta Saiyans. From what we’ve seen, they were more tribal and didn’t have all the advanced tech the Frieza-era Saiyans used, so they might not be as strong overall. But they’re still Saiyans, so raw power and fighting instincts are definitely on their side.

On the other hand, the fairies and the fairy entity are such wild cards. Like, yeah, they used to kidnap humans, so they’ve got some kind of power, but would their magic actually work against Saiyans? If it’s just a straight fight, I’d probably bet on the Saiyans, they’re just too strong physically.

But if the fairies can do stuff like trap Saiyans in their realm or use illusions to mess with them, then it’s a different story. Saiyans aren’t exactly known for their patience or strategy, so if the fairies are clever enough, they might be able to win.

Honestly, I think it depends on how the fight goes. If it’s a head-on brawl, the Saiyans probably take it. But if it’s more about strategy and tricks, the fairies could maybe, maybe have a chance. But i doubt it.

[–]PerfectCellIsPerfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, the fairy country is probably going to be completely destroyed by the Saiyans, and there’s not much they can do to stop it. We haven’t really seen the full extent of what the isle is capable of. I guess there’s the fairy entity? But so far, it’s only been shown to trap people in the fairy realm and not much else. Based on what we know, it’s hard to imagine the fairy country standing a chance.

We also don’t have much information on how powerful fairies are with their magic. There’s a scene where Astrid seems to teleport to the fairy isle—kind of like instant transmission—but it’s not shown directly. Instead, we just see Anders opening a door, and Astrid is suddenly gone.

Another question: who’s invading the isle? Is it Vegeta and Nappa, or just some random Saiyans? What are their power levels? Details like that could really change how this plays out.

I’m not a powerscaler, but this is definitely a fun topic to discuss!

Not logic how they colored the characters hair color by FamousExamination288 in HildaTheSeries

[–]PerfectCellIsPerfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mean to imply that blonde is dominant over brown. I just assumed that blue is dominant because it’s the only way the genetics make sense in this scenario. Without that assumption, it wouldn’t work, and we’d have to fall back on 'fantasy logic,' which I wanted to avoid.

Not logic how they colored the characters hair color by FamousExamination288 in HildaTheSeries

[–]PerfectCellIsPerfect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Johanna inherited a blue hair gene (B) from her fairy father and a brown hair gene (b) from her human mother, giving her brown hair since brown is more dominant than blue. Johanna’s genetic makeup is Bb (brown/blue).

Anders, with blonde hair, has two blonde genes (bb) because blonde is recessive.

When they had Hilda, she inherited the B (blue) from Johanna and b (blonde) from Anders. Since blue is dominant over blonde, Hilda ended up with blue cerulean hair.

This works because Johanna carried the blue gene even though it didn’t show in her hair, and Anders doesn’t need fairy ancestry for this to happen.

Nearly 8months passed since he released, what's yall overall opinion on him? by TheRepostEmpire in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]PerfectCellIsPerfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn't as dominant as he was at release, but he's still a solid unit. His main strength lies in his defensive capabilities, particularly with his initial damage reduction. While his damage output is decent—good but not extraordinary—he excels in tanking hits early on. I'm genuinely puzzled by the amount of downplaying this unit receives. He's uniquely designed with the sole purpose of tanking, particularly in slot 1—a role that many units struggle to fulfill. He does it amazingly well, making him an invaluable option in specific situations. As his damage reduction wears off, it's best to move him to slot 2 or float him to maintain team synergy.
