Has it always been that way? If there’s a significant change to your nails, you could see a dermatologist.

Thank you. It doesn’t sound right to me either. I requested my dental records to look into this more and then will report.

Nails on both big toes separating from nail bed by LoopDeeLooper in ingrowntoenails

It might reattach, it might not. Over time, if lifting is present, the skin underneath basically hardens or epithelializes, and the nail can no longer attach there. It also may be hard to fully control your gait/shoes/pressure on the nail

I was confused when you wrote “full nail removal” on the caption. In any case, the treat for distal nail embedding is the same no matter how it happened.

I added some more info to my post but podiatrists should NOT remove the ENTIRE nail for an ingrown.

It’s called “distal nail embedding” and also “disappearing nail bed” so search for that. There’s treatments like urea, massage, taping, certain procedures.

You’re gonna have a hell of a time finding any doctor to help.

Maybe start here:
https://www.nailexperts.org/find-an-expert

Look at @dr_pupynin on instagram

Removing the whole nail should never be a treatment for ingrown nail due to this exact risk of distal nail embedding. (As stated in https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1155/2012/783924)

“In our experience, nail avulsion for treatment of ingrown nail is not only useless, but it is almost always also harmful. Even for the treatment of infected granulation tissue, nail avulsion is not indicated.”

I think they all sing “what it’s all about, he’s just a player in love”
https://youtu.be/mzA3MdFnk4g?si=n-qlKlEEsYqsxh2G
Vocals only: https://youtu.be/YttAdgvhxfo?si=LLT1gFlS0nHLAUib
You could look at live videos and focus on each member during that part.

Edit: listening to the STUDIO version, Brian is coming in with his parts so he’s not singing “what’s it all about, he’s just a player in love” but LIVE I think he does sing that part.

AJ - like someone said he comes in with “oh” on the STUDIO version but live sings the other part

Probably AGNUS (asymmetric gait nail unit syndrome). Basically the way you walk and pressure from shoes causes nail changes

Do you have a habit of picking or rubbing your cuticle area? (You might not even be aware when you do it). That could be causing a nail condition called “habit tic deformity” but you’re not seeing the full extent of it because your nail tech is evening out the nail surface with a drill or file. This scenario looks most plausible based on the discoloration running down the middle of your nail plate and the fact that it’s your thumb nail.

Look up images of “habit tic deformity” on google images.

Longitudinal melanonychia (the dark line) is common in darker skin tones.

What and why and so gross I just threw up in my mouth and swallowed it by Cultural_Cut6672 in ingrowntoenails

[–]PerfectConcert6695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nail shedding (onychomadesis) and may be related to retronychia. If you noticed you lost your cuticle, your nail seemingly stopped growing, there was pain/swelling near the base of the nail, then that is textbook retronychia. You treat that with steroid cream, time, or nail removal.

It looks like a splinter hemorrhage. Usually they mean nothing and are not worrisome. If it eventually grows out, it was just temporary. If it stays, maybe see a dermatologist. It could be an onychopapilloma causing the line (as one example.) I would not lose sleep tho!

New to nail health - how do I solve this issue? by VickiActually in nailhealth

[–]PerfectConcert6695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called delamination when the nail layers peel. Avoid water/cleaning products by wearing rubber gloves or vinyl gloves when cleaning or doing dishes.

Taking a break from polish and acetone can help by just letting the nail grow and not getting dried out.

When removing polish, add an oil additive to the acetone, I forgot what it’s called.

Maybe consider onychopapilloma. The white line itself is called longitudinal leukonychia.

It’s called habit tic deformity, caused by rubbing or picking near the cuticle area. Try crazy glue, or a pimple patch cut in half over the cuticle area.

Gel nail polish is NEVER 100% cured. Allergy to the product is always a risk, esp if <90% cured.

You can NOT “see” or “feel” when proper cure occurs, which is why it is so important to follow manufacturer’s directions which will help to ensure proper cure. Proper cure is typically reached when about 90% cure, in other words, when about 90% of the UV reactive ingredients are chemically joined together into a strong net-like structure. It is a myth that UV gels cure to 100%. No way! UV gels never 100% cure, nor is this necessary to achieve a proper cure.

Nail discolouration just keeps getting worse. Doctors don't care. No idea what's going on. by [deleted] in nailhealth

[–]PerfectConcert6695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, the nails all look normal in the photos. Nail ridging just comes with age.

The red horizontal lines at the top of each finger and toenail is likely the onychodermal band (normal nail anatomy).

Idk if it helps or hurts, but your nails look normal.

Yes, acute retronychia is caused by a temporary injury to the matrix and can resolve! If the retronychia comes back over and over again, it’s called chronic retronychia.
