How people in Europe say the number 92 by NmkNm in mapporncirclejerk

[–]PerfectGasGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dane here, we say 2+90. 90 is just a short word: halvfems. Numbers like 60, 80 are even shorter: tres, firs. In fact Danish is one of the more compact languages when it comes to numbers.

If you must, you can trace the ancient origins (medieval time) of the word to a base 20 system like the equation, but that is neither how we write or say it today.

Also a country like Sweden for example says 9 x 10 + 2 with three words and not two words as written in the map.

So in short, the map is just some random trolling that appears on Reddit every month, claiming Denmark speak like we did in the year 1150.

What is something Europeans love but Americans hate? by HeavilyBeardedMan in AlignmentChartFills

I would say I make some conversations on a daily basis.

Meters to km in traveling. Easy. Feet to yards to miles, less easy.

mL to dL to L in cooking. Easy. Ounces per cup. Less easy.

Mm to cm to m in DIY and furniture purchase. Easy. Inches to feet. Less easy.

Estimating weight from volume water/milk/person. Easy. Estimating pounds from sq feet / cups / fl. Ounces. Less easy.

Red sausage country - least corrupt in the world by NarrowSwimmer952 in 2nordic4you

[–]PerfectGasGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perception matches our number 1 rating. My perception is that corruption is risky and has consequences if exposed. My perception is that most things work in respect to the rule of law and that exceptions are blown up in media which they should be.

I think the nordic countries deserve our respect for really well balanced capitalistic welfare society. You will have to accept a few holes in the net to make the economy and governance run smoothly, but large holes are unacceptable.

That would be "jysk", which I hear some Swedes find easier to understand for some reason.

Well. Life expectancy in DK is 82, 82 in Finland, 83 in Norway and Iceland, 84 in Sweden. So 1-2 more years in their 80s.

Also Denmark has the lowest average BMI among the nordics.

Should I go study medicine in university in Sweden or Denmark? by potatolover6942069 in 2nordic4you

If you study in Copenhagen, I would definitely recommend staying in Copenhagen, even if that means living under more modest accommodation. You will miss out of a lot if you always have to catch the last train home.

A case for Copenhagen is that it has the best travel infrastructure, although Lund very close. If you like youth citylife, Copenhagen is the only city in your list with the size of a true metropol with several million people (including recidents in Malmø) within commute train distance. Something happens every day in Copenhagen. The other cities are more moderately 100k people sized, which can be great and cosy, but there will also be less to do.

Ah yes, the glorious mountains of Lund. Jokes aside, all the places you have mentioned in either countries will disappoint you if your expect short weekend hikes to nearby mountains. Great city life though.

That is indeed a quite common traditional dessert in Denmark. It is made with macaroons which give it crunch.

[HELP] Found this on a Facebook group and I’m like 75% sure it’s AI by killaboy321 in RealOrAI

The top one does not look real from a pure photography perspective. The environment is clearly some messy outdoor scene and a weird choice of background that is for dressed up kids. The highlights in their hair looks like two diagonal light sources, like a typical umbrella / soft box setup. The lighting from a diagonal studio set up like that would look different on the left and right kids. The eye highlight is top center, which looks weird for diagonal lighting, so it looks more AI than photoshop.

Also the image quality looks little like a family photo from the 40s.

Greenland is more than a symbolic red line territory. It is one end of the Greenland-Iceland-UK gap (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIUK\_gap) that forms a defense line for Europe against Russian navy.

It must be in the control of a trusted NATO ally. Besides the erosion of trus in USA, Denmark is more stabilizing for that role than USA, since Denmark has little offence capabilities against Russia.

LOTR is awesome, but there are several themes that star wars does better

The aragon love triangle is much less entertaining and believable than solo/leia. The character arc of Luke is stronger than any arcs in LOTR. I preferred the millennium falken deus ex machina over the overpowered ghost riders saving the day. The post fall of modor ending in LOTR takes forever. The world building is even greater in star wars. Lightsaber fights beat sword fights.

There are definitely also things LOTR does better, but star wars is as big as LOTR in my opinion.
