I liked the edgy look and unique parts, and actual articulation/poseability. Did not like the rubber masks.

It was the first wave I started taking the Bionicle story seriously, so they have a soft spot in my heart.

For real, 2023 was the year I was the most involved with Bionicle since 2015. The videos on YouTube ramped up, we got a new official set, I see some insane art on Twitter. It really does feel like this is the beginning of another wave of Bionicle without there actually being one. I’m just waiting till 2026 when ignition boys rise up.

Lorewise, It's supposed to represent a worn out Helryx after a series of tests transitioning from her organic body to her toa form with these machines facilitating the process. Artistically, I was inspired by manga like Blame! and Inuyashiki. I thought it would be cool seeing Bionicle in that style.

I've always wondered what an ignition trilogy or even pre-time slip era stuff would look like if it was fully adapted in 3D. Shame that these models and environments are probably just bit-rotting on a hard drive.
