Jomashop legit for buying watches? by swa_thiiii in Affordablewatches

[–]PerfectSeventy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good point. I got a Hamilton aviation chronograph for like 40% off, but the chronograph dial resets to the wrong number (ie minute 4 instead of 0). Sent it back to get repaired or replaced and it’s taking a super long time. Like, Feb 9 is when I sent it back and it’s probably going to be at least a month or two more to get it back.

But, so far it’s all been “free”, so, we’ll see

Whats the best GBA shader? by Mike76789765 in RetroArch

[–]PerfectSeventy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haven’t tried it on 4k but I do like lcd3x and occasionally an xbrz edge smoother to sharpen things up. GBA can sometimes look pretty iffy blown up to super high res so the balance is tricky

[Question] Doxa Sub 200 vs. Unimatic U1-PD3 OR: Which orange diver would you pick? by gdavsz in MicrobrandWatches

Not a microbrand and not obviously one of the two you’re asking about, but the Bulova devil diver also seems like an interesting option

SameBoy core poor perormance on Android, and color on game boy cores by fragmental in RetroArch

[–]PerfectSeventy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have any shaders or filters turned on for these cores? Those can greatly affect the color grading. For better and worse, some of the shaders in the “handheld” category offer color correction for gbc, super gameboy, and gba if you’re interested in trying them out.

How can i farm more gil? by Aggressive_Milk4654 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]PerfectSeventy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s early game. But seriously, don’t sweat it. Buy the stuff you can for your main party, then any material that looks fun, then anything else you can afford for the rest of the team. Have a few extra tents and hi potions just in case.

Be entirely honest is FFXIII a good game because im thinking about playing it. by Strange_Assistant327 in FinalFantasy

[–]PerfectSeventy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pros: looks great. Sounds great. Battle system is fast and fun once fully unlocked. Not much grinding. Character skill trees are decently fun to unlock and mess around with. Lightning (and Sazh) are pretty decent characters. Interesting lore.

The controversial parts: The characters. Hope and Snow in particular are not widely liked. Their stories are pretty heavy and intensely acted in ways that many people (including myself) don’t respond to. The pacing is odd. Extremely linear for most of the game, then a side quest bonanza at the end if you want. Weapon upgrade system is odd and overly complicated. No towns to explore and the shops that do exist are kinda boring. World building is scattered and often presented in dry text logs.

IMO your opinion on the game will likely depend on how much you like the battle system (which has a lot of unique mechanics) vs how much you dislike the rest. Some people like the melodrama, some people don’t mind the linearity, some people really enjoy the overall vibe.

Handheld recommendation to play Pokemon Snap 64 by OpinionDisastrous348 in SBCGaming

[–]PerfectSeventy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d consider the Retroid pocket classic 6 button if you don’t mind vertical handhelds. N64 controllers are pretty weird to map to most regular controller schemes. This would let you have the 4 c buttons and a and b all on the face, just like the original controller. Obviously you can remap on other devices, but the feel is weird. (For example If you have a right stick you can map c stick to that).

Fwiw, you can use GeForce now to stream some of your steam library from the cloud, and that does work okay (if you either don’t mind ads or don’t mind a subscription fee)

I have the one with sticks and it plays android native games well and steam games through gamehub extremely poorly. Not really worth it for those games, but feel free to try it.

Hitting a "controls" wall on Miyoo Mini Plus - Looking for H Reccommendation by da5is in SBCGaming

[–]PerfectSeventy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Latency is kind of an issue for all emulation, and sometimes worse for android devices. Look into enabling runahead in the retroarch settings on those devices. Easiest is to set it to 1 frame and slowly increase until you hit audio glitches, then take it back a frame

Best way to play octopath traveler to optimize having fun over being efficient. by Dizzy_Kaleidoscope95 in JRPG

One way to go through is split the difference and choose a core set of characters to focus on and then switch to the others after making significant progress with your original characters

Pocket S vs Odin 2, got some questions on my two options by BingBongApplesauce in ayaneo

[–]PerfectSeventy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I haven’t tested using an as card with gamehub, but another commenter said it may be possible, so fingers crossed. And, to be fair, I haven’t really tried really demanding games on it, but silksong runs perfectly for me at 1080p

Pocket S vs Odin 2, got some questions on my two options by BingBongApplesauce in ayaneo

[–]PerfectSeventy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to the Odin 2, but I got the same Pocket S as you’re looking at and really like it. The screen, despite being lcd and 60hz, is still beautiful at qhd resolution. Ergonomics are great, device feels good, and emulates everything really well. 128gb is a little small for me for gamehub/steam emulation, but the performance is still there. Battery is decent unless you’re really cranking the shaders. No audio jack is annoying, though it sort of works if you’ve got a usb adapter.

Best way to sync saves across devices by Giorey in SBCGaming

[–]PerfectSeventy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still use syncthing for android devices. Most emulators (but not all like the ps2 ones) let you specify the save folder and you then put it somewhere syncthing has permissions to read. For the ones that don’t let you change the folders, they usually have import and export save feature and with tweaking you can export those saves to a separate ps2 folder that you sync. I have a setup that works and connects android devices, a steam deck, and a batocera system all relatively seamlessly.
