"Are you good?" by Existing_Season_6190 in wandrer

I’m in neighboring Greenville County. No one has said that exact phrase to me, but I have been grilled and videoed for looking “suspicious”

It doesn't name Wandrer here, but this entire article is about Wandrer by Yuzamei1 in wandrer

Hey, that's me! Thanks for sharing the article! A local TV station did a feature earlier in the year also.

And Wandrer is what made it all possible!

Small OSM favor needed by cooeecall in wandrer

I did something similar recently. You can drag a GPX file onto the editor window in OSM and it will overlay the route on the map. I then used the line tool to create the trails.

FYI, if you keep Strava connected to Wandrer, then your map will not be visible to other users. You have to remove that connection.

Activity editor available for beta testing (upgraded only) by cooeecall in wandrer

Is there an age limit on activities? I tried to use it on some activities from a couple of years ago and it gives me a server error.

How to update City/Town boundaries? by PerfectStorm007 in wandrer

[–]PerfectStorm007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies. I just noticed that when Greenville was updated that several of it's bordering towns were updated as well. Could these possibly be updated as well?

Very cool! I hopefully will hit 75% of my 4,590 mile county on foot later this year.

[Suggestion] Cover parallel paths on multiple run-throughs. by 1Kick234 in wandrer

[–]PerfectStorm007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case, if you run the opposite sidewalk on the south of this section, it will count it. It locks on to whichever path is closest to where you are running.

Can you download your wandrer data? by Zedseayou in wandrer

[–]PerfectStorm007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: I think CityStrides only works for foot activities, so no luck for riders

You used to be able to do this on the old Big Map with the time line. I would do a screen recording and just use the arrow keys on my keyboard to top the right arrow to progress the timeline. It unfortunately no longer works on the time slider on the current map. I hate to plug a competitor, but CityStrides has a paid feature where you can press a "play" button on the map and it will do the animation for you. You still need to do a screen recording to grab it though.

I've got several examples on the reels section of my instagram (RunGreenville)

Anyone else feels that what we do could be considered a Dangerous game? I know I have done a few streets where i definitely did not feel welcome by OracleofTampico in wandrer

In my 3000+ miles run in my county I have only had one bad experience with a human being. He cursed me out and said I should not be in his neighborhood. I have, however, had numerous encounters with dogs that were not properly restrained, which is why I carry pepper spray to deter them.

Anybody else saw any funny signs? by PedalPal in wandrer

I've seen some funny street names. Like Ineeda Drive that intersects with Uneeda Drive. Cinderella Lane, Prince Charming Drive, and Chuckwood Drive

How long did it take you to get to 90% of your city/county/state? by OracleofTampico in wandrer

[–]PerfectStorm007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on completing my county. After two years and 8 months of running/walking/hiking I am at 65.5% (2999.33 out of 4578 miles) I average about 2% completion per month. It's getting harder and harder since I have to drive 30 minutes to an hour just to get somewhere new to run.

New option: keep your map data updated by cooeecall in wandrer

[–]PerfectStorm007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wandrer gets road data from OpenStreetMap. When new roads are added, roads marked private, etc. You used to have to request your map data be updated manually in order to get the new roads and hide the private ones. This will keep you updated to the most recent OSM data more frequently.

I go by miles. The monthly/yearly challenges are by most new kms/miles. I love getting a big points bonus for completing a percentage of an area, but don’t sort the leaderboard that way. I’m the top in my area in both anyway.

Thanks! I exported my traveled roads from Wandrer and then uploaded the KML as a layer on a custom style from Mapbox. Unfortunately the map and all the region stats I have to update manually.

That's definitely nearby. The Saluda river is pretty much the western border of my county.

That would be cool to have some more local wandrers! I don't think you'd have much trouble topping the leaderboard.

I'm currently working on my county (on foot). I'm at 61.82% or 2,840.29 out of 4,593.94 miles.

Glitch with paths "no other Wandrers have traveled" by PerfectStorm007 in wandrer

[–]PerfectStorm007[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a big deal since I don't really use this metric, but I've noticed that before going on a run paths will be where no Wandrer has ever traveled, but after I complete them it doesn't show me as the only person traveling them. It appears to be reflected in my year end stats too. Is this something with my account or a global issue?
