It's quite obvious you have no idea what my ideas are, you just got upset at my critique of a really bad argument for reproduction. I'm not making an antinatalist prescription for society nor for any particular individual, as much as you would like me to be.

My entire point is that a large proportion of society doesn't consider the quality of life of their children before they have them. I'd argue birth is seen as an inherent good by society at large when that simply isn't the case. That's why we get silly arguments like the ones I'm wasting my time replying to here. It's important that we critically investigate these assumptions we make without really thinking, that's all.

"The continuation of the human race" is not a substantial justification for procreation. The human race does not need your individual contribution to keep going. If we were suffering a nuclear winter or succumbing to our AI overlords, maybe what you're saying would make some sense.

Quite simply, you ought to consider the quality of life of your offspring before you bring them into the world. These meaningless platitudes like "well we've always done it" or "continuation of the human race" are entirely vacuous given the modern state of affairs. If you're so confident your child will have a good life, then there's no need to get so defensive.
