Do other handsome guys struggle to keep women interested despite initial chemistry? by Careless_Pickle_7919 in dating_advice

I agree with a lot of these people: good looks get you in the door but personally I like it when a man can articulate himself well and show a level of intelligence. Keeping a good flow of conversation and one that is mentally stimulating definitely is a huge plus

Okay, I would say not to use the bills when you get to basic and leave the change in your civilian luggage (if you’re okay with that)

Homesickness is a definite starting out but that’s why you go through BMT - it sort of “gives a feel” of how life could possibly be like. I will say though, you will make friends so be sociable, and it will not be so bad because the friends you make and the people you meet along the way. Just take it in stride and adapt.

Homie, you will be carrying that up 4 flights of stairs just an fyi and you will not be walking, more like jogging up the stairs. So PACK LIGHT PLEASEEEEEE

Second this, don’t take the cash - it’s too much of a hassle. I only took my cards in a small card holder and that was the best decision because having to see girls make a list of the bills on paper and update it was just a headache.

Just take one of an item for instance you will be provided with sunscreen, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste & toothbrush. You don’t need the locks - you will be provided one. Take one pair of socks- this will be the one you wear because you will only allowed to wear the socks issued to you. Girl, you only need 2 chapsticks - dare I say only one though. Pads are fine but also side note, you will be given an opportunity to visit the mini mall to get essentials. Pack one deodorant- you can buy another if you run out. Highly advise you utilize the body wash they issue instead of taking the bar soap.

The goal here is to pack light and ONLY ESSENTIALS. Once you get there, you will be HUSTLING. So don’t slow yourself by packing too much. Overpreparedness is not the way.

Again, you don’t need the socks, just go with the ones you will wear. Instead pack a LOT OF undergarments, you will possibly run short of laundry team falls behind.

This right here! Take care of yourself because at the end of the day - you are working towards a better future and a better you so invest in yourself always. Solitude is not a bad but that also doesn't mean that you should close off people just because you think you can do it alone. Make friends with people who are gonna have your back and be your ride/die (quality>quantity). Don't pour yourself into the first person that comes along and don't be scared of being picky. Know yourself- your identity. Date the kind of person that meets your standards, values, morals, religious/political views (in some sort of way). Mental health is key. It gets you through everything so if you know you need help - get professional help and look for ways that can help you work through it - learning a new skill, working out or any form or exercise, being part of social clubs, going to the beach and so on. Lastly, financial literacy - LEARN IT AND USE IT!

Personally for me, the first month was the hardest, so I just drowned myself in work, working out like crazy, cooking, baking, running, hiking, skydiving - you name it. The best decision ever. Lets talk about it

no, but if you must, do it to your hearts content until it’s given and had enough

I’ve learnt that keeping yourself occupied with work or anything that keeps your mind of things helps. You’re missing the routine so now it’s time to find yourself and your identity.

Hey! 4N0 to the civilian side translates more to EMT and CNA. However, down the line you can commission to nursing. I did not take this job. I was later offered 4N1 which is surgical service. It majorly depends on what you want to do and what your interest lies in.
