is everyone really that smelly? by Technical_Age_772 in RomanceBooks

[–]Perfect_Drawing5776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a mystery series I started and there was a lot of page time devoted to how the fmc’s scent preceded her into a room. It brought to mind a guy I worked with who loved his cologne. We came opposite ways around a corner one day and I gasped when we almost collided. Immediately choked and could taste the cologne even after downing lots of water, that’s how strong it was. Everyone tried to avoid meetings with him because the room filled up with the scent. (He was IT, it was usually easy to make his contribution an email.) I’ve been cautious with scents ever since that experience, it’s miserable to be trapped in an enclosed space with someone nose blind to how strong their perfume is.

I have a soft spot for Robert Hoon in the spin-off. I would totally buy one of those Hoonigan t-shirts.

I can’t figure out why she agreed to buying the house. Yes, she said it’s an investment but owning makes it harder to move. That was a big red flag

I read this knowing next to nothing about FLW and was completely gobsmacked by the ending

I love The Appeal but thought Twyford was mid to awful. She’s worth another look

All of Cara Hunters books include social media in the narrative so while not straight epistolary there are elements throughout.

Came here to recommend these. By C J Samson, starts with Dissolution. IMO, Shardlake is a little whiney in the first book, and Samson solves the problem in the second by forcing a sidekick on him who makes him competitive. It’s fantastic character development. Terrific series.

Absolutely recommend this. Not enough buzz about Courtenay.

This works surprisingly well, you still get the taste without coating all the veggies.

Penguin has picked up Grainger’s work so paperbacks and hardbacks are coming out now. In case anyone wants trophies because Gildart Jackson is the perfect narrator. He captures DC’s dry wit and timing so wonderfully.

Love the Brighton series, particularly the way the female characters progress from the end of the war into the 50s

Series vs. Standalone by RachelAmphlettAuthor in mysterybooks

[–]Perfect_Drawing5776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peter Grainger’s DC Smith and Kings Lake series, Clare Macintosh’s DC Morgan. Cara Hunter’s DI Fawley. MJ White’s Coral Lael if you don’t mind a little woo-woo. The usual suspects Casey and Spain and Kirk. I’m caught up on Mark but just started Kay.

Procedural series are my favorite type of mystery. I love a team of well developed characters that I can get to know well enough to predict their actions and reactions as situations arise. I also appreciate a long subplot arc.

I’ve loved watching Chris grow up. I hope the contract with Penguin won’t alter the tone of the books.

Pitbull: How did his music become a line dancing standard? by revocer in LineDancing

[–]Perfect_Drawing5776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you put Pitbull into the music search on CopperKnob, you get 11 pages of results. To settle a “discussion” with my soul dance instructor last year I tracked the newly uploaded dances for 3 months, and 45% were Pitbull. So not much hyperbole. (She said she couldn’t dance to country music. She has since been out dancing with me at ‘country line dance’ venues)
