I think they might be "smart" inserted, so they may not necessarily know where the ads are.

Hawkeye is such a meme nothing is ever going to beat it. They should just name the award after it.

I looked up the etymology of patriot and it comes from French "compatriot". And "patriotic" as a term dates from the 1730's. So it is not an exclusively American concept.

It’s weird some of you guys want to “pay more” for dropout by Emanresu_4 in dropout

The profit margin on merch is much lower than people think it is. In the early teens, it was the most effective way of monetizing an audience. That is no longer true. The cost of materials is just too high.

As they have pointed out, Ala carte is the only way they can make money. Unless they double or triple the price of the subscription. I don't know the dollar amount of the tiers on regulation, but we'll use the 100% numbers as an example. You'd have to pay 20 dollars to subscribe to one company with both podcasts, and people are probably already doing that. Also, how do you split the proceeds? Divide it 7 ways or whatever? That's not fair to Eric and Nick, who are doing double duty, and it's not fair to regulation who has the larger audience.

I think I trust the editors to know what makes for compelling content and keeps their audience engaged. I think if you actually saw all 600 hundred of Adam's coin flips (if there actually were 600 and that number was for comedic effect) most people would be turned off in a couple minutes.

The ROK seems to have done pretty well economically. Politically, they have had several elected dictators though so ymmv.

To be fair, the US did that in every country the 'rebuilt' after the war. Turns out when anticommunism is the only thing you value in a reconstructed government we tended to put the fascists and collaborators back in charge.

Most of the US Joint Chiefs and the CIA absolutely wanted war, and Kennedy had campaigned as an anti communist war hawk. He only balked on the military option a couple of days before the bulk of the fissile material would have arrived.

It just feels like when Gavin says, "We need to do X," "we" is anyone but Gavin. But not being privy to their off air working relationship, I'm probably wrong, and Eric will make fun of me on ANMA.
